Thanks for the rep and for your reply about Pitfall.
It only has 10 levels as far as I could retrieve the info. However, it uses a 32Mbit cartridge and there's some noticeable loading (probably decompressing) between the levels. For what I could see, I suppose that they used the extra space to include a couple of extra animation frames (however I couldn't notice it by the videos in YT - even in those using real hardware -, but they use crap video capture devices and maybe the low framerate is "hiding" it) and several ambient sounds. Looks like they added some "jungle" sounds into the soundtrack to provide a audio experience similar to the CD soundtrack.
