The "I'm Not Racist, but..." Thread
Seriously.
For those who don't want to click on my link, here's the general thought behind it:
"Have you, like, seen the cover of Vanity Fair this month? All those women are totally talented and stuff, but they're all white!!! I have, like, thousands of black, mexican, and asian friends, and NONE of them made the cover! Psh! Vanity Fair is totally racist, you know?"
"PS: If you're black, please befriend me on Facebook, kay? :P"
I'll tell you why this irks me.
Do we have to be excruciatingly PC all the time to not be classified as "racist?" Is that what kind of crap society we live in now? So if Vanity Fair and other shit magazines like it don't conform to some kind of ridiculous formula of having equal parts black/white/hispanic when they are recognizing a group of people, they are opening themselves up to overly-sensitive (and probably white) journalists who are all too eager to point out the flaws in others to accentuate their own "open-mindedness?"
That's garbage. That's crap.
Racism is a rather broad term. Sure, it's most commonly affiliated with hatred and stuff, but what it really boils down to is the "special treatment of others based on their skin color or nationality." That can be good or bad. Giving a person or group of people praise purely based on their skin color is special treatment, sure. But so is burning a cross on their lawn.
I can't stand the idiots that are blind to this. And I don't care what their color, race, or heritage is: idiocy is idiocy. And this especially goes for all those gibbering white groups wearing their "I Heart Black People" sandwich boards and crying for constant diversity on the pages of gossip rags. Don't they know that this kind of bullshit actually perpetuates racism?
Racial acceptance and improbably diverse posse's are all well and good, sometimes it's only white people!!!
BTW: I showed this to all my black friends and they all agreed with me.
