What? No! I have a big 32" TV with inputs up to Component. I have a secondary TV that's RF only. What kind of monkey do you take me for?

So from what I gather in this topic, the TG16 has some good games, but the PC Engine and CD attachment had much better support. Importing is cheap and easier than Saturn importing and is recommended, but a regular TG16 can be fun. However, I received no solid say on whether to buy it or not.
I'll think it over. Maybe I'll get one, I like systems with small libraries. :) Thanks anyway guys...
Gate of Thunder (an SCD game) is the best shooter ever made IMHO. Lords of Thunder is also top notch. They are the best reason for getting a Duo.
I certainly understand your not wanting to shell out hundeds for the system, though. I don't, either, and I love those games. That said, there are plenty of Hucards that are a lot of fun which are US release:
Star Soldier Series (I believe there are 4 of them)
Blazing Lazers (great vertical shooter)
Legendary Axe 2 (best hack and slash ever!)
Sidearms (tough as nails shooter)
Bomberman (allows for five players, which is unusual)
Ninja Spirit
Bonk 1, 2 and 3 (Bonk 3 is prohibitively expensive though)
Air Zonk
Military Madness (great hex strategy game)
And there are more, but those were my favorites. I regret ever selling my Duo, but such is life. The TG unit itself is a bit pricey these days, running about $40-60. And as someone mentioned, you need a Turbo Booster to use RCA cables (which will cost more). It's a fun system, though, especially for shooter fans. The games, being dominated by Hudson, have a unique feel to them that makes owning a turbo worthwhile.
And I agree you can't compare the TG-16 to the Jaguar or 3DO. Although the TG failed in the US, it was a comparable system to its contemporaries in both terms of power and games quality. I like the Jag, but it was supposed to be a successor to the 16-bit generation and it was woefully underpowered for that. The games were pretty much crap to:) And the 3DO was just ridiculously expensive for its time, which ultimately kept it from having a chance.
Buy it. There's plenty of fun to be had there. Personally, I wasn't big on importing when I had the system, even though I had the adapter. There are enough fun and unique american games to make the TG16 worth buying. I've been pondering picking one up again myself...
Thanks for your input sketch! :D
Given the TV I'll likely be choosing, I won't need a Turbo Booster for right now (trust me, it's one hell of an awesome RF TV). I still don't really want a Turbo CD or Duo, but I won't rule it out. I kinda like vertical shooters better than isometric and horizontal shooters (it's a matter of lack of viewing area). Are there the usual action/adventure games on the system?
The Star Soldier (Super Star Soldier, Final Soldier and Soldier Blade) series and Blazing Lazers will be right up your alley! They great vertical shooters. They are a little pricey these days, I believe:(
As for action/adventure, do you mean action/rpgs? The system is light on those type of games. Neutopia I and II are the only ones I can think of offhand.
Here's a great resource to explore TG games:

The cords are fairly long (about the same as the genesis), but you can get an extension. I believe old Mac ADB cables will work with the TG, but someone will have to verify that for me.
I thought Blazing Lazers was rather cheap (or was it that it was better back in the day? I can't remember). Are all the Star Solider games on US HuCard?
Well, Zelda I suppose would fit the bill, so any games vaguely similar to Zelda (having trouble thinking of any other strictly Action/Adventure that isn't a platformer or RPG).Quote:

Speaking of which, any platformers? Maybe RPGs?
Thanks, I'll check that place out. :)Quote:
Genesis controllers are extremely short. Sounds like I'll need extension cords... :(Quote:

How old of Macintosh are we talking about? iMac (the G3 line) or 68K Macs?
Blazing Lazers is pretty cheap, but the Star Soldier games might run you some money ($40-60?). And yes, they're all on Hucard.
Neutopia is a Zelda clone, so I'd definitely check it out. Bonk is the best platformer on the system, and one of my favorite platformers of all time. After that, the dropoff is pretty severe. There may be others, but I can't think of any quality platformers offhand. The RPG library is light as well (at least in the U.S.).
No problem:) It has a very good list of games and quick reviews that are fairly accurate.
I guess "long" is a relative term:) I was talking 68K Macs, but it seems I may be mistaken if ApolloBoy is correct.
Ah, well...
Can't you get extension cords for 8-Pin DIN?
Very cool. I'd probably get Blazing Lazers first.
What about Keith Courage in Alpha Zones? Dungeon Explorer isn't worth getting? Any RPGs like Dragon Quest?Quote:

Oh yeah, I forgot about Cadash. I have the Genesis version but apparently TG16 Cadash is closer to the Arcade version. How much does it run for?
I didn't find a list of releases, but I found an old text file of mini-reviews. It covers a lot of Japanese HuCard releases though. :(Quote:

Can't go wrong there...
Keith Courage is a passable game, but nothing outstanding. I forgot about Dungeon Explorer. That is a great game; it's very Gauntlet like, but doesn't have a "health timer". I never had TG Cadash, so I couldn't say about that one. I've heard Jackie Chan Kung Fu is a great action/brawler game...
It does; TG fans like to import. But I think most of the good US games are there, and they at least differentiate the japanese game with a JHucard designation. As you can probably tell from the reviews, the TG excels at shooters...
i picked up a TG16 today at goodwillfor $2.50 no controller, games or adapters though. but I read the Genesis M1 AC/RF work with it and I have a extra set of those.
What the...? Since when did the TG-16 get so high in price??
I'm glad I bought mine when I did, and with the TCD attached + Super System Card 3.0 and the hard case. I love that TCD; it's a sexy little bastard. Doubles as a portable CD player too if you have an AC adapter or carlighter adapter.
