anyone else here watching the Winter Olympics besides me.
I watch as much as I absolutely can (minus figure skating). Women's downhill, hockey, speed skating etc...love it!
My Dad has been watching it religiously ever since it started. The Snowboarding was pretty entertaining to say the least. :)
Ah, NBC. We Dutch have got some very good experiences with them too:
Watching the Men's Mogul Skiing was ridiculous here in Canada.
Canada won the Gold, with Dale Begg-Smith from 'Australia' taking silver. The whole broadcast had the douchbag announcers literally calling him 'A Villain' to try and get people excited. The fact that 'he' doesn't get excited when performing made him "Cold and ruthless" as they said.
A ridiculous attempt at injecting drama by the CTV network. If they really wanted to go down that road with derailing him as an accomplished athlete they should have dropped the bullshit and told the truth:
The guy was born in, raised, and even represented Canada. He moved to Australia so he could train by himself without Canadian guidelines, while also running illegitimate software businesses that create Malware & Spyware. He belongs in prison.
THAT'S what should have been thrown around without the stupid dramatic criticism of his personality on our broadcast. Fuck him.
The truth is that nobody gives two shits about skating here in the US.
However, NBC can't cover the Olympics worth a shit.
It's like the whole Lindsay Vonn winning/losing thing, by the time they show the actual event *in prime time* the news has been on the internet for a good 3 hours.
When the summer games were in China, I could understand waiting to show events due to the time difference. These games are in Canada, Pacific time at most, can't you just show the events live?
Except Curling, just post the scores. ;)
Hockey's all that matters.
I prefer the Summer Olympics.
Women's Volleyball
