You experience that more than usual right, with moderately high AC voltage output where you live? (with the PSU outputting ~14V)
I think our outlets vary in our house, in my room my model 1s don't get all that warm, but tend to heat up a fair bit more set-up in the family room. (at one point I was using the Sega CD PUS instead, but I don't think that matters, just a higher peak input wattage rating)
the AC brick output voltage plays a role too as KoolKitty mentioned, the higher the output the higher temperature you got.
