I have to agree with Guntz's original general point on this. NES had shitloads of shitty games. As does every system with a large library.
I was hoping this argument wouldn't turn into a list war. I, for one, am always amazed at what other people consider good/shit. Personally I think some of the game's on KD's list above are bullshit. Alternatively, I could easily name just as many "good" third-party games on the Wii, but I'm sure others would not approve of that list.

I'll simplify my view on everything:
IMO These machines have historically had 50-100 awesome titles available to them within their lifespan, with lots of good niche' games. The Wii has maybe 10-20 games arguably worth checking out & a lack of quality software from 3rd parties. It's not comparable to NES outside of it's mainstream attention.

Unfortunately, many people just want to assume that the Wii has a lack of good games, without really looking into what the system has to offer. Preconceiving doesn't make it so.

I meant that Sony's in-house offerings were lacking compared to what Nintendo and Sega had. Sony might have had the better third party support when the PSX was out (less so with the PS2, the Xbox existed then), but they didn't have household names like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Sonic or any of Sega's awesome arcade games.

That still doesn't change how much garbage polluted the NES's library. Like I said before, only 1/6th of the NES's licensed third party games are actually good. That still leaves hundred upon hundreds of crappy titles. Don't forget the immense number of unlicensed titles for the system, which would add a very noticeable number to that already huge pile of garbage.Quote:
