Game companies do strange things

Tell me about it. I hear a lot of hatred towards the 32X still, but the Virtual Boy is praised up and down by Ninty fanboys. The funny thing is the 32X had at least twice as many games as the Virtual Boy got. The VB had 14 worldwide releases while the 32X had 39 (roughly). Not to mention there's lots of good games on the system like Shadow Squadron, After Burner, Space Harrier, Star Wars Arcade, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Racing and a lot more. The Virtual Boy had basically VB Wario Land. That's really the only worthwhile game on the system. All the others are either average or mediocre.

I don't either, that's why I don't buy movies and most games via download. I only make an exception for the iPhone because they're super cheap and I don't want to jailbreak my phone.

People PRAISE the Virtual Boy? Seriously?! Even as a Nintendo fanboy back in the day, I could tell that thing was a failure from the get go. That's some hardcore fanaticism right there.

Well, maybe "praise" wasn't the right word to use. More like "has a very strong following". There's a ton of Virtual Boy collectors and fans on NintendoAge. There's just something wrong there. The 32X was definitely better, even if it wasn't virtual reality 3D.

The Virtual Boy is definitely a "cult" item among Nintendo fans, they're a very small group. And it tends to be less about "liking" the system or it's game library as it about the uniqueness of the console itself, and the fact that it was Gunpei Yokoi's last major brain child for Nintendo before his leaving the company and eventual death.

The 32X deserves a cult too. It's actually one of the most successful failed add-ons (I call the Sega CD a success). Like I said before it had a surprisingly large library for being supported for less than a year.

At least the 32X had ACTUAL REAL-TIME 3D, and didn't need some crappy gimmick like the supposed virtual reality. And about the games, yes, the 32X was MILES better than Nintendo's system (more than it already was). For me the only DECENT game to come out of that system was Teleroboxer. Seriously, do these people prefer stuff like Red Alert to excellent games like Shadow Squadron?

Maybe I could be wrong but I could swear the 32X has a better following than the Virtual Boy? Remember the 32X does have a small scene in the homebrew department IDK if the VB has anything like that.

I actually got one used right after it's epic fail, pretty cheap too. It's power supply was damaged by a sibling a few years back, so it'll most likely never get used by me again. I don't care enough to replace it...

As far as homebrew, the only place I've ever heard of was Planet Virtual Boy.

virtual boy is pretty sweet nowadays because you can emulate it using 3D glasses instead of glaring into some stupid ass goggles. Play that shit on the big screen! It's all mostly forgettable, but the 3D still has its charm to it in short bursts every now and again.

Virtual Boy emulation sucks. I haven't found a single emulator with sound yet. Not to mention it's really hard to get the controls set right and the screen settings are confusing. If somebody can direct me to a VB emulator that is actually good, I might be able to skip buying a real one.

I used ViBE or whatever it's called for mac and IIRC it had sound.

I need to get me a pair of permanent 3D glasses from dealextreme and start rockin' that shiz.

I used ViBE back on Mac OS 9, it was actually pretty good but I could never find a clean dump of Wario Land so my interest waned. I only have Windows XP right now. Red Dragon and Reality Boy both suck yet they're considered the best out there. WTF.
