on mugen
Do you guys like mugen? Most of my friends have it on their computers, but I don't think I'd ever download it. It seems like an awful lot of trouble to maintain because they're always having to add new characters, stages, music, and they even create characters (one friend made a sketch turner). They have hundreds of characters. Most of the custom ones suck though and I find myself only using characters from actual fighting games, so I don't see the point of it when I could just play Street Fighter or KOF. The vast majority of the characters are broken as hell and no fun to use or fight against. They have way too many anime girls. Having to use a keyboard sucks and a controller doesn't help much either because you're stuck with the analog stick. I guess it could be okay, but it's stupid the way they have it set up.

It's fun to fool around with but ultimately leaves me wanting to play real Street Fighter

I'm withholding judgment until "Sega-16 Burning Fist: Quest to Rescue Zooey Deschanel" is created and released.
-
So what's the most outlandish Mugen character made so far?
Also, if Sega-16 members start being included, I want to be on the initial fighter cast. :D

You might have to wait to be included in:
Super Sega-16 Burning Fist HYPER TURBO: Zooey Deschanel still needs rescuing
-
Who is Zooey Deschanel?
Also, I hate MUGEN. It's probably the worst fighting engine ever.

Mugen was fun back in the day, but these days its a major clusterfuck.
lots of badly put together characters and too many Evil Ryu/Ken/Guile/insertcharacterhere.
I always hoped they'd release a Dreamcast or Xbox port, so I could actually be bothered to make a nice vs game or something,
but PC gaming just doesn't interest me anymore.
Was cool to see Elecbyte return in some sort of capacity though,
But reading their forum really shows how childish the mugen community can be.

Seems like everyone and their mother has a version of that. I downloaded 2 different versions and most of the characters sucked, I wasn't really into it. I'm sure there are better versions out there with cool characters that are decent to play, but it seems like you'd have to waste a lot of time searching around.
I can see this being fun though if you're into designing your own version of it from the ground up. Make-it-yourself stuff like that can be a lot of fun, but I find the most fun part is making stuff, not so much playing other people's creations.

I have been curious about but nothing has made me wanna really try it out though.

It's fun and all, I used to play it a ton when my friend introduced it to me a couple of years ago. Now that I'm a more serious fighting gamer it kinda seems pointless, as it's not online multiplayer and it won't make me better at actual fighters. Still, I've gone back to it for shits and giggles a few times.
