Childhood misbeliefs.

Got this topic idea from Sonic Retro. When you were a child, you had a child mind. Post here what was your weirdest or stupidiest or funny thought back then. or just weird memories or happenings.


I always remember this that when I watched Roger Rabbit, I always wanted so badly that these caartoon characters to be real and I can meet all the lovely characters from the film. of course it never happened :/. I just wish it would be real.


2nd I remember was some deaath thing. I was friggin afraid of dieing and had to ask mum every night "Do I die now?" If they said "no" I was happy and I could sleep.

3. I thought I can run like Sonic when i try to "run" and "using" legs very fast but it didn't work.

4. Sister told me that when I don't go to school, I go to jail lol

5. My parents frightened me that when I watch lighting out of window, I die. I still afraid it as how can I be sure?

6. The monsters or things at night

I used to believe that aliens take you away when you don't close the curtains before going to bed.

I cannot think of anything else right now...

Heh. You also can talk some weird fears or things when you were a kid.

I remember I always thought my mum is gone as she usually left me at home alone for soo long.

I remember I did a very stupid thing xD: I ate cheetoses and then I felt like something went into throat and I afraided I'm gonna die. I went out of window and ran to the nearest guy and asked "Am I going to die?" Man said: "Well I don't know, probably not!" i said "Thanks" and went back home. I told parents too what I did, they werent happy xD.


I always afraided that when I close my eyes and sleep, I might not wake up tomorrow as maybe sun "died" or "end of the world" happened. Stupid news in newspaper... remember that sun is dieing in 6 years, I was soo afraid of it.

When I was a little child I believed that I could one day learn how to talk to animals, like, really have a conversation with them...

Ah, childhood naivité...

My mom always said not to go near the toaster oven when it was cooking or you'll get burned, so I always made sure I was at least ten feet away from it at all times so it wouldn't burn me.

She also told me to be careful near the brick fireplace hearth because if I hit my head on it my head would split open, so whenever my head touched it, however lightly, I would check my head to make sure it didn't open.

I seriously believed that stepping on a sidewalk crack would break my mother's back, so I was very careful not to do so.:?

I used to believe in Santa Claus, until one Christmas day, I found out Santa was not even a man.....But a woman...

- I used to believe the old mary jane was harmful
- Thought there was a God
- Thought Adam Beyer was a form of House

can't remember anything else right now.

I remember a time, when I didn't know what death is.
For some period of time I actually thought that people
get born, then age, and then age backwards, to become
babies and start ageing again. I even actually asked my
parents if some guy they knew was ageing for the first
time, that was a great laugh : D

I found this site years ago. I can't really think of any of my childhood beliefs right now, but if I do, I'll addeth them.

Hah, I was just going to post about this. I wonder how common it is.

In my case, it was because I had heard my parents talking about their childhoods, which was a totally new concept to me. So of course I then assumed that if children could become adults through the passage of time, then adults could become children as well. I even thought that I had been an adult earlier in life and just didn't remember it.

When I was five or six I went on a trip with my family to the visitors center at Mt. Saint Helens (a dormant volcano that had a huge eruption in 1980) in Washington state.

After watching a movie about the eruption of Mt. Saint Helens in 1980 and hearing from one of the rangers there that Mt. Baker (a local mountain) was a volcano I was sure for quite a while after that our entire family would one day all be killed by an eruption by Mt. Baker.

Shortly after I got back home my Dad told me that Mt. Baker was dormant and probably not going to erupt for a very long time, I was very relieved to know that.

I was never afraid of ghosts or the boogieman, aliens always freaked me out.

I always was scared that aliens were watching me from the sky when my window was open.


A childhood misbelief: swallow gun and it will stay in your stomach for years. Found out a few years later that is not the case, you can pass it within a day (or less).
