Korean Mega Drive Exclusives

Almost everything has been sold now. I've got a few items left, so I've dropped the price on those. If you're interested in anything, drop me a line.

Darwin 4081 (only released in Japan/Korea) - This game is boxed, however the plastic on the outside of the case is missing. The art insert is still included and is in great condition. Somehow it is affixed to the box and I didn't even notice the plastic was missing until after I purchased it. It is missing the manual. This is just about the lowest price I'll be selling a boxed Korean Mega Drive game for - $18 shipped

Game Gear/SMS Compilation for Mega Drive - This one is really cool. On this cartridge are 3 games, Sonic 2, Castle of Illusion, and Tom and Jerry. From what I can tell each game is either the Game Gear version or the Sega Master System version, but put together on a Mega Drive cartridge. For those unaware, the Game Gear/SMS Sonic 2 is very different from the Mega Drive release. You need to turn the system on and off to shuffle between the 3 games. Pressing reset only restarts the current game. $20 shipped

4 in 1 (Boxed) - Another boxed Chinese pirate that I found in Korea. The cart and front of the box say Rockman World 2. The 4 games listed on it are: Rock Man X, Sparkster, Taz Mania, and Worldcup Soccer. You can see more pictures in the Picasa web album above. I tested it out and it turns out Rock Man X is Rock Man Mega World. To change the game you need to press the reset button on the system and it shuffles through the 4 games on the cartridge.

Lastly I've got a boxed bootleg copy of Contra Hard Corps. The case is actually a Capcom case and its got the hangtab, but its all bootleg. Cool none the less. $20 shipped

There are other Mega Drive games that I can get but the stock of the stores I visit is always different. Anything I purchase will be added to the above available list. In the past a few titles I've sold have included Eliminate Down, Streets of Rage 3, and Ragnacenty (Crusader of Centy).

If you are really interested in a Korean version Streets of Rage 3 I can do it for $60 shipped. I normally sell it for a little cheaper, but the one copy I can get a hold of is priced at more than twice what I pay for boxed Mega Drive games normally.

That's a real cool looking game. Isn't a Super Mario World port like I used to think it is either. I believe there's also an identical port of this game on the Master System.

Yeah, it's just the master system game housed in a Megadrive cart I think, like that Phantasy Star for MD.

Actually, I believe Super Boy IV was for the Mega Drive only. While Super Boy 1 - 3 were for the SMS and MSX (I think). Later I can upload a picture of Super Boy II. I don't own it, but I've got a picture anyways.

I'm pretty certain it was distributed on SMS carts too, or at least going by the fact it's an SMS game, it would be odd that they only distributed it through Megadrive carts. Plus this Youtube video titles it an SMS game, so the dump must be an SMS rom.

I'm confused, are you saying that this game is a SMS game board in a MD cartridge? If it is how is it playing on an MD(at least, that's what the seller says it's playing on)?

It's the same deal as that Phantasy Star that was re-released for Megadrive. Basically since the Megadrive has the same components that the Master System did, they are able to program the cartridge a certain way so a Megadrive can read it. I guess that's how you can word it, I know no tech speak to explain this. Maybe someone more tech savvy can explain how a Master System game can be produced to work on a Megadrive?

All I can keep saying is, look at the Phantasy Star rerelease on Megadrive. That was just the Master System game with modifications to work on a Genesis. As one person I found put it, "it's basically the Mark III rom and a Power Base Converter all rolled into one."

The cartridge launches the SMS mode through the Z80. The Mega Drive has all SMS hardware "baked in" its own hardware, the VDP (which is updated on MD) and also the soundchip (which is built in the VDP I think). The MD sound processor is the main processor for the SMS (Z80).

All they do is redirect a couple of pins on the cart itself - kinda like a Master System Converter with the cart built-in.

Yes, I am selling the Streets of Rage 3. If a common game is boxed I usually sell it from $25 - $35, depending on the condition and the game. Streets of Rage 3 is a bit harder to come by and is also a more expensive game in other regions. I was looking for around $50. If you are truly interested in item, let me know and I'm sure we can work something out.

Bumping this up. I've sold/trade 2 of the cartridge only games and added a price for Streets of Rage 3. Everything you see is still available. I will most likely be putting Ninja Gaiden on eBay in the next couple of days.

Bare Knuckle is the name of the series in Japan(Japanese version of Streets of Rage)Molo. I just pondered which name is better( I am torn now as streets of rage gives you that gangsta feel where as bare knuckle is short and to the point)
Promie! I would grab it if i were you. die hard Sega heads are going to go bonkers over this as Korean releases (especially popular titles )are few and hard to come by. Moreover, it is not a bootleg as Sega worked out many a licensing deal with other Asian electronic big wigs to produce games and systems (as noted by the Samsung logo on streets of rage 3 (Bare Knuckle 3)and uzu

^I tested the game out today and just to be clear this is Streets of Rage 3. The reason I originally mentioned Bare Knuckle was one because it was written on the spine in Korean (and on the cartridge), but mainly because on these forums so many people seem to prefer Bare Knuckle 3 over SOR3 due to the small changes between them.

I found a lot of new cool stuff today. I've found Pocket Monsters II before, but today was the first time finding Squirrel King. I also nabbed another copy of Super Boy IV and I found a Mega Drive cartridge that contains Sonic 2 for the Game Gear. First post has been updated and there are pictures for everything.
