Quick Little Text Review I decided to do for the ClassicGameRoom Forums
I did a little text review for the ClassicGameRoom.com forums in their Member's Review for the heck of it. It's not a Sega console game, but it is a Sega game and it's for the Atari 2600! To check it out, go to this link for the original: http://www.classicgameroom.com/phpbb...php?f=16&t=587 or just read it down below. I just wrote it on the forum "post reply box" thing so it's not a full-fledged review.

Quick Little Text Review by: ME!
This is just a quick try with review writing. I'm a noob at writing, but Tac-Scan is probably not very well known and is a hidden gem of sorts that deserves what recognition it can get and more. Here we go:
First off, this game is made by Sega. Yes, Sega. Everyone's beloved company from the olden days. This game is just as high quality as any other early Sega game like Sonic the Hedgehog and the like. Also, this game is for the Atari 2600. I don't even need to tell you how awesome it is. So, this game combines Atari and Sega. How could it be bad?
Good news! This game is wonderful! It's based of a Sega arcade machine which I have sadly never played nor know much about and wish I could have played one. The Atari game is so good, so the arcade should be even better, right? Anyway, this game used the paddle controllers and is a top-down shooter like 1942 or Astro Warrior except lesser graphics and much better than Astro Warrior. The paddle control is done very well and it really adds to the game what a joystick certainly couldn't have done as well. The controls are simple as with any Atari game: wheel thingy turns stuff, big red button shoots stuff. Basic Atari controller layout.
In the game, you start with 5 ships all playing at once, all firing at once. You basically shoot down enemies for as long as you can and rack up as many points as you can. Nothing that breaks the shooter mold too much except for 5 ships at once (the original arcade game had 7 ships, I do believe). You get a free ship at the end of each level if a ship is destroyed (I don't believe that you can keep racking up ships by just not losing any). You get extra ships by shooting the flashing enemy ships and maybe by getting a certain score (I suck too much at the game to know when if ever). Where the paddle turns determines where you move. The screen scrolls left and right some when you turn the paddle wheel. This all works out very well.
The game picks up the pace after a few levels. The enemies fire more and you lose more ships. You need to shoot the enemies more and get the flashy ones to get more ships. The enemies shoot even more. Everything gets faster. You shoot more. You lose ships. You get more ships at the end. It gets faster. The flashy enemies become less common and further away. You lose more ships. You can't fire as much with less ships. More enemy fire. You're down to your last ship. You're almost to the point where the level ends. You're one last ship isn't enough. You finally lose your last ship, sweat dripping from your brow, and you get the end screen with the words "Sega" and "1982" scrolling in your face.
So, this is a pretty intense game if you get into the later levels. The game itself doesn't last long before you finally lose all you ships. A gameplay video I watched prior to this review only lasted about 3 minutes until the guy lost. I'm not sure it even ends. Overall, this is a great game and very fun to play. It's fairly common and I picked my copy up for about $3. Definitely something to look into if you have an Atari 2600 and want to play a good little shooter besides ThunderForce 3 because, if you're any sort of good, you've probably beaten it in one way or another. Tac-Scan is possibly unbeatable, so that means there's infinite replay value. right?
I didn't put this in the "Contributor's Corner" because a quick scan of the rules for the thing said it was for Genesis/Sega CD/32x type stuff. So, hopefully this is the right place to put it. A place mainly for member's reviews would be nice, if such a thing doesn't already exist here. If this is so, please move this to that or a more appropriate area. If it's fine where it is, I'll just get rid of this little paragraph at the bottom.
Hope you enjoyed my "Quick Little Text Review!" :D
