Sega's Arcade Hardware, What was most successful for them?

Completely wrong - the CD32 was a big success, but when Commodore failed to make their payment on the XOR patent (and how silly was that patent), Cad Track had an injunction filed on all Amiga products, killing CBM dead. Yet another example of bad patents killing a good product.

The main thing that set the CD32 apart from the A1200 (other than the CD) was the AKIKO, which allowed the CD32 to quickly convert chunky 8 bit graphics into planar graphics. It made it much easier for game devs to make ports to the CD32.

Don't get me wrong, the Neo Geo has the best lineup of any 2D system out there IMO (especially considering the incredibly small size of the library), but to recognize it as anything but a tremendous commercial failure is just sticking your fingers in your ears and going "la la la la la."

I don't think you can say it's a commercial failure. I don't think SNK intended it for it to be as mass market as the SNES or Genesis. The price point they put it at was aimed at a very specific market. I'm not sure exactly how well it did but I'm almost positive they at least broke even on it. They didn't make consoles for that long but the premium price strategy lasted until 2004 which I think went above and beyond SNK's expectations. They also got them put in Japanese hotels. Yeah, we have to put up w/ shitty N64 games in hotels while they get Neo Geos.

I mean SNK wasn't the smartest company but they weren't 2006 Sony level dumb :p

I believe it would be Model 2A in Japan. Virtua Fighter 2 was Sega's biggest arcade hit there. Virtua Fighter 2 was so popular, that it managed to sell 1.7 million units on the Sega Saturn and was the only title on the system to sell over a million in Japan. http://www.the-magicbox.com/Chart-JPPlatinum.shtml
