Sorry for the 'noob' question here guys, but what ARE the 'rare' Genny games? (U.S. release please) I know of the rares for other systems such as NES and 2600, but what of the Genny "gems"? Just curious as to what to watch the fleas and GoodWills for...

Ones to definitely watch out: MUSHA, Moonwalker, Mutant League Hockey, Splatterhouse 2 and 3, and Spider-man Web of Fire for 32x
Moonwalker and Spiderman aren't really rare. I see Spiderman all the time it just people as way to much for it. Moonwalker was originally valued around 20 dollars, but after he died it is now hitting prices of around 50-70 dollars. I'm speaking for my experience with American games.
Where have you been seeing Spiderman for sale Xeniczone? I haven't seen a copy on eBay in many long months. On forums I've only seen one pop up but the guy decided against selling it (CIB too). Although, since I'm in Canada I don't see US-only listings on eBay so maybe that's why...
I think he meant Spider-man: Web of Fire for the Sega 32x. Spider-man by itself is a dumbed-down version of its sega CD counterpart: The Amazing Spiderman Vs. The Kingpin. Neither of the latter two are rare, but Web of Fire is indeed quite rare to find, albeit not a Sega Genesis game, but a 32x one. (although, the 32x does say Genesis right on top ;)).
As for rare Sega Genesis games, here are a few that come to mind right now: (somewhat rare/hard-to-find to really rare):

For me though, its all about the FUN of the game, but I am not above swapping a "rare" game for several FUN games...;)
Damn...makes me wish I'd have picked up MoonWalker all of those times I passed it by at yard sales and GoodWills...:? No worries though, its yard sale season here so bring on the games!! :)

Only Spider-Man: Web of Fire is rare. I was talking about Web of Fire, QuickSci-Fi was talking about Web of Fire and I have no clue if Xeniczone was or not.
Moonwalker isn't really rare, the death of a certain celebrity just made it incredibly expensive due to the perceived worth in the eyes of some memorabilia collectors who probably don't even play video games...

I've based a lot of the values off what I buy and sell for on ebay as well as amazon.
Also keep in mind prices do fluctuate. Game prices seem to rise between December and February.

Now you guys are confusing and mixing around terminology. Rare != Expensive, and Expensive != Rare.
For example on the Sega Saturn (which is more my expertise then Genesis), Panzer Dragoon Saga is often considered the rarest game on the console. It costs around 150-200 dollars per copy, but it's uncommon to find. I'm saying I could go on Amazon, Ebay, Half.com and find a copy of it pretty easily. But if I looked up a game like 3D Baseball or All-star BaseBall '97 I would be damn lucky to find it CIB. Even though when they do pop-up they only go for 10-40 bucks.

And Panzer Dragoon Saga is a rare game as it has a low print run. The only reason it is so often available is because it demans such a high premium.

Your probably right on the fact that someone bought the game on ebay for a ridiculous amount and now since that happen every tard out there thinks they can sell the game for that value.
But if anyone needs values for JP region games let me know I have friends who live in Japan who can find me the values of them in stores and I also go to Osaka at least 3 times a year so I can look out for stuff.
