It's not so it's different from sony, it's that way because it's scientifically proven to be more comfortable (this experiment is repeatable, grab someone with little experience with either and they'll tell you the 360 controller is better).
3D games require extensive usage of the left analog stick (and much less usage of the right one). Your thumb starts hurting after awhile if you constantly use the left analog stick on the Dual Shock but not the 360 left analog stick. It's where it is for that reason. This is massively worsened by how sloppy the Dual Shock sticks are.
On the 360 controller your thumb is perfectly rested on the stick, on the Dual Shock you need to apply a lot more strength so there's no slipping (you don't notice this because you do it unconsciously now). Add in the handles for asian girls and you have a recipe for disaster because you can't hold the controller in a comfortable way. End result? PAIN.
And don't let me start on the awfully cheap buttons, specially the triggers. The 360 did triggers right.
There hasn't been a good D-pad since the Saturn days, so I won't even comment on that.
Funny how you guys think this is some mindless sony rant. I could care less about sony. The PS1 and 2 have a ton of good games, I just wish I didn't get hand cramps from playing them.
