I just got Unreal Tournament (the 1999 original) after I gave Ureal Tournament III to a friend for his birthday. I'm absolutely addicted to it, and I just went over to my friend's today and we played tons of Unreal Tournament III. Any people who play the series here?

I made a mention of UT when I made my Dreamcast "Bargain of the Century" thread. One of the best multiplayer FPS for sure. I love the original, it's just fast and furious mayhem. I played UT 2004 online a good bit when I first started college, but I eventually got tired of online play as it seems everyone had automatic head shot hacks. I mean, there's no way people are that good. I also don't like how online players tend to exploit jumping as a dodge tactic, if I wanted to jump around like a fairy I would play a game with Tinkerbell.
I got Unreal Tournament III for my PS3 and used to borrow a friends copy of Unreal Tournament II (or maybe one, I can't remember) quite often.
Awesome franchise.

I like Unreal quite well... I have UT3 but I never played it more than a couple of hours.
than you should definitely start playing it more as UT3 is AWESOME
Unreal Gold was the first game I bought for my first PC back in 2001. A Windows ME, PIII 1.0 GHz with a TNT2 32MB card. Ah, the fun I had just watching the opening as it zoomed around the castle. Got UT a little while later and had fun with that.
I think I'm the only one who actually enjoyed Unreal 2. It wasn't ground breaking, but I thought it was still a solid sequel... one that really needed an expansion pack to continue what happened to John Dalton.
UT 2003 wasn't bad, but it sure as hell wasn't good. It felt like a demo version for the much better UT 2004. Had a lot of fun with that game and enjoyed UT3 despite the regular crashes.
Time for Epic to make Unreal 3. Give Gears of War a rest, and continue the story line. Or at least give us a new one that lets us know how things ended up after part 2.
I like Unreal and Return to Na Pali and U2 was OK, but seemed a bit too much like they were going for Halo in some ways (especially the weapons) and the ending was a bit weak. (co-op was a neat feature)
Granted, it was mostly back seat gaming with my dad for those games back when I was 10 or so. (older for U2 obviously)
I played UT99/UT2K4 like crazy back in the day.I have UT3, but I don't play many online games that often any more.UT3 is a good game, it's just that people didn't want to upgrade their PCs.
Ah, that old game. Unreal 1 & UT was fantastic, and loved both of em'
I love Unreal, however I think it's unfortunate that Tournament overshadowed the original so much.

Unreal 2003/4 - Great fun but my enthusiasm for Unreal faded ages ago.
Unreal 2 - Just an average fps that was more of a tech demo than a proper sequel.
Unreal Tournament 3 - Had it for a few weeks on the PC. The engine is incredibly scalable but the game itself felt lacking certain polish/content.
One of the top MP Franchises ever... UT3 is the cleanest and best running one yet.
Oh yes! Unreal, the original, not tournament, made my jaw drop when I first saw it.
I play UT very often, usually a LAN game in my house with my son. It was his first FPS and he loves it as much as I do, we are playing through 2004 at the moment, with UT3 installed and waiting. We also play cooperatively online. :D
I don't care much about the Tournaments, but just Unreals are quite nice.
Unreal Tournament on the Dreamcast with the mouse and keyboard was so damn awesome.
I love Unreal Tournament, truly brilliant gaming there. :) One of my most unusual memories is having a -really- bad day, then playing UT, and ending up getting a high score because of it.
That includes Unreal II? I hadn't realized the development split like that with Digital Extremes (and Epic games, of course) continuing the UT series and Legend Entertainment taking up the main series for Return to Na Pali and Unreal 2. (before Infogrames/Atari shut them down...)Quote:
