Ah, I forgot about the promotional comic, I think wiki used to have a mention of it somewhere, but it wasn't here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._printed_media until I just added it. ;)

I also didn't know about the UK based Sonic Comic series.

For the record, that promo comic predates both the later Western Comics (and TV shows) and the Manga. (first released in 1992)

Some Japanese names just don't transfer properly, that and the general concept of "eggman" may have been different than the western interpretation. (even the more bumbling/comical incarnations of Robotnik, like in AoSTH are pretty evil and devious -the first episode of that series points it out with Robotnik -where he shows no squabbles over wanting Sonic dead)

Edit: Hmm, forgot the characte in SatAM is Julian Robotnik, not Ivo. (unlike AoSTH -and the Archie COmics which apprently have him changing from Julian Kintobor to Ivo Robotnik)

Why did they change his name to eggman in US and Europe, anyway? Robotnik was fine.

because anime nerds have declared anything americanized to be evil (super mario bros 2, final fantasy 2-6, dragon quest, etc). im surprised there isnt any movement to retrofit street fighter characters like m bison, vega, and balrog to thier original japanese names

TBH the only Sonic characters I appreciate are Sonic, Tails, Robotnik, and Rouge.

I can also get on the Metal Sonic and Amy bandwagon because I appreciate them in Sonic CD.
I don't think they've been done well apart from Sonic CD though.
Amy actually seemed shy and nice, a girl that Sonic might go for.

Having a "story" for Sonic, Mario, etc is INFURIATING to me.

I pop these games in to test them and see what they're like (the current Sonic/Mario games from Gamecube-Wii-PS2) and it takes

How did Console Gaming go from 'fast and furious' to "we're going to make you sit here for 10mins+ and not let you skip the cutscenes" just to play a bloody platformer!!!!!!!!!?

YES! I have never ever been that involved in Sonic's storyline line that and I thought his cartoons were really mediocre. I jsut popped Sonic in the Genesis and played a great game. I did buy his very first comic book by Archie Comics didn't care for it then and I sure as hell don't care for it now.

And "story" is the reason the Sega-16 fighting game stalled and died. No story, just crazy character fighting!

It's mostly the tits...but she also has a pretty cool character/style (and her original voice I thought was nice) and I think she'd make a good match for Tails.

But yea, it's really just the tits.
My wife hates Rouge, so I realize that I'm the minority here.

I like Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Rogue and Psylocke...
