I said that, not chrisbid so you might want to change the quote and I was referring to the Sonic franchise which Sega has ruined and you don't need a degree in game design to see that.

I agree, totally molested the franchise by developing on engine then building as random shite they can on top of, proper exploiting the name.
You can tell theyre not the forefront developers they used to be, whats been decent and new to come from SEGA in the last 5 years or so?
and imagine the board meeting when they decided to cross a hedgehog with a warewolf with long stretchy arms?!?!? theirs a reason they left the stretchy arms out the first game, cus it was gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
This whole thread is "lol". People are so sensitive about Sonic or Sega on either side of the fence. Personally, Sega has jaded me with the Sonic series. Actually, anything from Sega is immediately suspect (been that way for years). But, this did look interesting. The gifs are funny, but they haven't exactly detoured me or such. But I am going to wait for other people to waste their money on it first, to see if it is really worth it.
it is a lil' and your right anything from SEGA in a long amount of time is a bit ¬_¬
I still think they might bring this back, im kinda hopeing you can remove/turn off the homing attack that was only really needed for the 3D games and I dont feel it belongs in the 2D venture.
Il buy it, then cry into my bowl of cornflakes everymorning when it turns out to be shit.
If people aren't going to buy the game simply because of the mine cart on *one* level then let me ask this:
Would you have skipped all of "Sonic 3" because of those dumbass cylinders in "Carnival Night Zone"?
or the flying level in Sonic2..we all know it was wank.
^^Or Labyrinth Zone on Sonic 1
I liked Labyrinth zone..but I can see how people got pissed with it....infact I thought it was pretty awesome.
if you want badly thought out levels some of SonicCDs are pretty bad.
Truth is to everybody Sonic has atleast 1 or 2 shit levels and ideas...but the game as a whole made it bareable. No game can ever satisfy 100% people 100% of the time its just whether or not the rest makes up for it.
Why does Sega likes to fuck up Sonic
Answer: because it can
It already is 2.5D depending on your definition... I don't care about HD sprites, I just think the 3D model of sonic used clashes with the overall design...
The sad thing is that there are a lot of good fan games and hacks which can be considered ahead of what Sega has continued the series with by many, especially the classic crowd. (MegaMix, Open Sonic, Sonic Extra Genesis, etc)

I mean, honestly. Are we to assume that, say, Youtube commenters have a better idea of how to produce a videogame than people whose job it is to produce videogames in the first place? Let me just open up SONIC ROBO BLAST 2050 EXTREME EDITION (c)Game Maker Workshop 2003 unregistered edition for a moment just to check. Then I'll open up fanfiction.net in a new tab, and also check out DeviantART and all the fourteen-year-olds and their fancharacters. Because everyone's special snowflake opinions matter and anyone saying otherwise should STFU.
All I can say is Robo Blast is pretty neat... at least for what it is.
^This.
There's not even one fence though. ;) The fanbase itsself is so split up no wonder Sega's conflited over what to do... You've got the classic Sonic fans, others who liked the Dreamcast games (but possibly not some later 3D games), others who like some of the later 3D games, some who like All the newer games, others who like the handheld games, etc etc.
You get those who are annoyed with all the added characters and unnecessary plots and others who whine when characters are left out. And that's still just touching the surface. It's really a mess, few other video game series have gotten like that. (I think I basically said this already in the original Sonic 4 thread -might have been elsewhere though)
I personally don't care so much as long as the game is fun to play... details can add or detract from the experience, but it takes a lot to really kill it... However, an average to mediocre game can be made or broken on such.
Are you sure it's just one level?
Which cylinders, the ones that whirl you around or the ones you have to rock up and down to get past? (I don't mind the former, it's the latter that's annoying)Quote:
Would you have skipped all of "Sonic 3" because of those dumbass cylinders in "Carnival Night Zone"?
Well, it's also probably because if they *don't* fuck it up by some peoples standards, it will inevitably be screwed up by another person's due to the fractured fanbase for Sega to cater to...
Not that necessarily. I dunno if it's the 3D, the stage design, music, or what, but it just seems to lack that depth. It doesn't help that none of the levels actually seem new. I mean this is supposed to be Sonic 4 not Sonic Remix. Maybe they're just doing the first episode to get fans of the Genesis games interested, though, who knows.
