best method to clean your carts? Is alcohol bad?
Tried searching but didn't really see a thread on this, so here goes:
I was actually going to replace my nintendo 72 pin and clean all my carts because im sick of having to wiggle the buggers to get them working all the time. Afterwards; I figure i may as well clean all my genesis carts while im at it too. Theyre really not that dirty at all but it couldn't hurt.
One thing though. WHen looking online i see a LOT of people saying you SHOULDN'T use Alcohol to clean the connectors. Is that true? Ive been using a bit on a q tip before and i dont think it hurt anything. I usually use 91% alcohol and wipe down both sides (and the walls afterwards) then follow it up with the dry side
some guides i saw for the nes (which should work fine for genesis carts too) suggested a couple products.
One called weimans cooktop cleaner

and one called brasso brass polish

anyone tried either of those? The guy that uses brasso is one of the people i heard say NOT to use alcohol. He uses a solution cut down 50% to wipe the residue off at the end. The weimans just seems odd to be, especially if ones worried about residue, but the people on nesforums seem to swear by it
I just dont want to use anything that would hurt the contacts on my NES carts or genesis carts. I never thought alcohol would be a problem. So what should i use? I notice nintnedo reapirshop has some of its own cleaner product:

but thats probably over priced especially for how little you get. And im guessing its some kinda non conductive brass cleaner and some alcohol wipe solution
btw for the bit to open the carts: this is what i need right:
