I'm playing this on the PS3 Genesis Collection, and for a roguelike, I like it well enough.
But I've run into at least four floors with no exits whatsoever, anywhere. I've checked every wall.
Is there something I'm not doing right, or is the game just messed up that way?
Never mind. The game has hidden doors!
So talk about the game if you like, it's pretty fun, in a sadistic old school way.
The game sucks. It's not buggy. I remember I wanted it badly for my birthday and was insanely disappointed when I first entered the dungeon.

I had a pretty okay time with it. It wasn't the best, but not the worst use of a couple of hours.
I'm 2/3rds done with it, and I like it more than not. It has its simple charms, like how the protagonist's appearance changes with better armors.
(And the game over funeral is great.)
The damage ratio is hilariously unbalanced though. Monsters doing 60% damage in one hit? Really?
I think this game is pretty fun actually. What are the problems you people have with the game? That it's never ending? Hidden doors?
Actually I think the game is a little too easy. Once you find a Battle Axe, all the monsters become noticeably easier to defeat. Not to mention you regenerate health by doing nothing.
The problem with the axe is that it almost never hits. I have a Silver Sword on 21F, and I'm going through enemies like wheat.
It seems like a pretty good roguelike, once I figure out the controls a little better. I did have a terrible start once though, where two mages kept me asleep until they killed me
Perhaps sucks is too strong, but so is a 6/10. The game is borderline unplayable and the music is repetitive as is the sound effects.Quote:

I actually liked the music.
And I just now beat it. Fun little roguelike.
Try the sequel, if you can find it anywhere. It's a little worse looking, and it's a little more friendly.
The only problem is that you're stuck beating the game on however long your Game Gear can stay powered.

FL isn't a bad game. If it had been tweaked a bit in some areas (like being put to sleep constantly while other enemies beat the holy hell out of you... or the HIGHLY repetitive music), I think it would have been a solid game in the Genesis library. As it is, it's decent with some issues.
I don't necessarily think hitting the d pad up, down, left, right, is fun, much less playable. To each their own, but I had the game when I was a kid, aka, Phantasy Star heyday, and I couldn't stand it.Quote:

Fatal Labyrinth is an undead parasite that can slowly kill you as you D-Pad your way from dungeon to dungeon.
This game is pretty bad, or at least absolutely unappealing. It was released as DLC for Sega's SegaNet service in Japan, along with Flicky, Penguin Land, Teddy Boy Blues, and the Phantasy Star text adventure games.
I have no idea why they chose these games (Flicky and Fatal Labyrinth) for a full cartridge release in the West.
And I have even less of an idea as to why these two games still are released with every single compilation Sega releases in the West.

Well, Fatal Labyrinth isn't completely terrible, it's just a niche genre. It does hold the distinction of being of of the earliest to have graphics, instead of text only
it΄s missing a save option in the original version, which is fixed in the ps3 version. however i am stuck on floor 4 as well. how do i find the secret doors/stairs?
garbage game, a true mystery as to why they pulled shadow dancer from the current gen compilation to replace it with fatal labrynth.
i could think of a hundred games that they couldve easily put on there instead of fatal labrynth
sonics ultimate genesis collection does have a nice port of shinobi arcade and space harrier so it is totally awesome!
