Strange Strider 2 cart...

I bought a lot from a seller on eBay. Most of his games are in like new condition. But this Strider 2 cart is "strange"... The game is complete and in like new condition, like it was never used at all (it even have the registration cardboard thing and the hang tab).

But the cart have 2 stickers on it... You can see the Strider 2 sticker on the top of another one. The Strider 2 sticker feel like the real thing to me, not a photocopy or anything, and the cart doesn't look like it has been tempered with or manipulated, everything look new. I tried the game, and it's indeed Strider 2.

I want to ask you guys, is it possible to get a game like that in a brand new package? Is it possible that the compagny did this? Or did someone tempered with it?

Why would someone put a sticker over another one without removing it? And you have to believe that this person did have a fully intact Strider 2 sticker somewhere to use on a Strider 2 cart...

And yes, I did try to remove the sticker a little to see the title of the one under, but I don't want to damage it too much either...

Can someone identify the underneath sticker with the small portion of the right side visible here?

BTW, sorry, my english is not perfect, I need to practice a little :)

weird...maybe it was due to a licensing issue with the old artwork so they put different artwork on it? That's definitely a sticker on a sticker and it wouldn't make sense for anyone to do that after the fact (unless it was a super obsessive fan that loved a picture and just had to make it, but he would've taken more time to put the sticker on straight and remove the old one if that was the case).

the sticker underneath would of been a "Megadrive" sticker from either UK or Aus depending. They usually do it too meet demands in other territories OR to fill stock demands when say its not too well sold over here.

So to not waster carts etc they just stick a new official label over the top.

Ive a few carts with the English sticker over the top of an American one....still official just strange looking.

Hehe! I was about to say maybe you will want to check some reviews before buying :p

Don't make the same mistake I made years ago, and purchase the game even AFTER reading the bad reviews. I tried to like the game, really I did. But the sloppy controls, random bouts of slowdown, cheap difficulty.........too much. Only worse Strider games are the Master System ones. Even the mediocre NES Strider is better than "Strider Returns".

I have one of those odd carts as well. They did a better job covering it up than what's in the picture in the first post, but you can still see some of it.

It's kind of odd how I kept getting these oddities with the Strider franchise. I got the re-stickered Strider Returns, and when I bought Strider 2 for the PS1, I got a copy where the disc labels are backward (pop in Strider 2, you play Strider... and vice versa).

All U.S copies of "Strider 2" are like that. The game received only one print run I believe, and the disc labels were messed up in all of them.
