Yes, modding the MD2 to ntsc or adding the multibios to the MCD1.
im not sure if the 60Hz mmmonkey mod worked but i'll double check when I get back home.
also where can I get a pal bios for the sega CD1?
No the Hz mod, the region-mod.

If your console's modded so it can play imported games, it will also run hardware from whatever region it's set to.
(If you don't want to solder your Mega Drive (switchmod) or Mega-CD (multibios), the MegaCart is the perfect way to region-free your Mega-CD.)

Correct. Different BIOSes are selected by holding controller buttons when you turn the Mega Drive on with MegaCart inserted - A selects the Japanese BIOS, B the American BIOS, and C the European BIOS. All you need to do is match the BIOS region to the region of your game disc.Quote:

I could make an EPROM burner that requires MS-DOS and LPT port for the cost exceeding of commercial EPROM burners that can use windows and USB :P
You either region mod the MD or multiBIOS the MCD+region mod MD or get Megacart. Megacart will boot your games in whatever region your MD is at, but bear in mind that lot of US and JP games will lose sync in cutscenes etc. in 50Hz so its more than recommended to region mod the machine aswell.
You can build your own MultiBIOS, just append EU, JP and US BIOS ROMs on top of each other, burn to EPROM and use higher address lines to select between them.
what is this MD region mod everyone keeps talking about :S
i will be getting rid of the md2 MD soon anyway... but how many bios will I need to play any game? And where can I get them? Obviously I need a US/pal bios for the MD and MCD... what about the 32x?
I want to use one of those burnable rom carts for my games.
This region mod is where you solder a switch or pair of switches to a few points in the Genesis, allowing you to change regions by flicking these switches.

There are two mods: the language switch and the 50/60hz switch. Simply switch your MD2 to Japanese language/60hz and it will work with your Japanese MCD2 no problems. I would also recommend the Mega Cart as it has other benefits besides playing all region games such as the ability to back up the miniscule on-board save memory of the MCD and it can play MD ROMs too.Quote:
