Yeah, I went and picked up a non-TMSS model Megadrive 1 for £8 the other day.
Good deal? If I find another decent Megadrive soon I might considering selling this one on, how much can I expect for it?

about £10 unless you're a greedy bastard!
also depending on condition, if its encrusted with shite, scratched and missing cables probably abit less than what you paid for it
£15 if its absolute pristine and possibly £20 - £25 boxed.
Ive had mine since 1989 and couldnt bare to part with it.
only about £10?
cool, guess i don't need to buy another one then :P
If it's a VA7 (without the High Definition Graphics [and Sound] logo) I'd consider it practically worthless, but it is possible to do a Crystal Clear Audio Mod with it which is what I'd recommend (PM TmEE for details.)
It isn't a VA7, it has the text.
And if it was worth anything, i'd have to go buy another megadrive and sell this one. lol
I kinda want another non-TMSS High Defenition Graphics model, so I have like, a spare.
Oh, it also has the EXT port on the back, which I have no idea what it's for.
I got my nice VA3 model for $5 at a thrift store, with RF box (tossed aside), and controller with red buttons..
I still have it though it's not played much anymore.. It will be once I redesign my entertainment system.
They are worth as much as any other genesis in price value, and according to supply and demand here in the US they are $20.00.
ive picked up consoles for one pound, and others for substantially more
things are only ever worth as much as someone is willing to pay...
so i guess - its varies?
:)
He said non-TMSS... so obviously not a non HDG logo model, let alone VA7.
Anyway, it depends. Online it's often not clear whether it's non TMSS or not anyway, but ones with the HDG logo do seem to get more interest.
The cheapest I've got was $15 with a power supply and original 6-button controller.
However, I've gotten a couple HDG models with TMSS for cheap (3 and 7 dollars, no power supply though).
Honestly the lack of TMSS isn't really special other than simple shaving a few seconds off boot time and allowing 1 or 2 unlicensed games to play without a game genie.
Sound may be very slightly better on them too, but that's debatable.
On the down side, they're the oldest models and the most likely to be failing from age. (actual age probably isn't the biggest factor compared to environmental conditions and such: abuse in use and storage)
