So I say post here whenever you buy genesis games!
Today I got
Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team for $2.90
Sports Talk Baseball - 90 cents - I actually already have this cart, but I couldn't resist seeing it in a case with instruction manual! (also works better, didnt have to blow or clean it for it to work(
and NFL Football 94 - 90 cents

all in case with instruction manuel (nfl 94 also has fold out juarrassic park/ sega, sega cd and such ad)

There is the Haul thread in Insert coin... its not MD specific though

Last games I bought were :

Thunder Force III
Ranger X
Road Rash 3

all were CIB, and they cost me 40USD total :)

Just recently picked up "Lightening Force" ( :D ) Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and a free copy of Chakan from a forum member.

In total, I payed about 35 bucks.

I actually traded a friend of mine one of 3 copies I have of Panzer Dragoon Saga, which I say was a fair deal.

I just got my CIB copy of Bare Knuckle 2 in the mail. I had no idea it was actually region locked-- thank Jebus I found a Game Genie code for that.

Is it just me or do Japanese Ebay sellers have way higher standards for the condition of a game than US sellers? My BK2 was listed as "good" condition, nothing more, with the cart, manual and box each being given a rating of "C" or so, yet each piece is practically flawless. Meanwhile, I get shit from here labeled as "very good" condition, which is apparently apt for a cart only with a slightly torn label, or "like new", which I guess is suitable for a game with no manual that's had its box tab ripped (not cut) off.

I went a little crazy this month and started buying a lot of Genesis games. I'm trying to collect every non-sports game(well first all the non-sports, then I'll probably buy all the sports games) So far in the last month:

The Japanese know how to look after stuff - Sadly, us westerners do not.

I remember buying a copy of Abe's Oddysee for the PS1 on Amazon for £9 (which was slightly more than it was elsewhere) and the seller stated it's condition as "very good".

A week later, it arrived - the game case fell apart in my hands, there was no manual and the CD had deep scratches and finge rmarks on it. The point I'm gettin at is sellers over here know shit when it comes to looking after stuff...

And about the game; I sent it back and demanded a refund...;)

asd it happened to a friend of mine few weeks ago, he bought for 40€ a Final Fantasy VIII sold as "very good"
all 4 disc were full of scratches, not just caused by the tipical carelessness and "rub-on-myself-to-clean-dust" system, but all the edge of the surface were full of deep scratches, caused by stopping the disc while it is spinning inside the unit wich seems 90% of italian sony fanboys are addicted to. and the instruction book was all creased and dirt (chocolate? i hope so..). how on earth something wich barely works can be considered "very good"!?

because most ps1 players here felt they were in a hurry and MUST stop the disc instantly when the lid is open when they had to change game :?
in fact, if you buy a used ps1 in italy, often if you open the lid you will find inside a deep circular scratch of the same diameter of a cd caused by this retarded must-stop-it-i-can't-wait-3-sec-to-let-it-stop-by-itself thing

I recently bought a mint CIB copy of Blades of Vengeance from Electronic Arts. It's an obscure hack 'n slash game with a wonderful lord of the rings feel to it. The graphics, gameplay and music are all top rate. I highly recommend picking this one up if you can find it. :)

I'm visiting my bro in Gothenburg and they have a cool shop here called "Games and Books". I bought my Zero Wing here a few years ago, and today I got:

DeCap Attack 75 SEK (~$10)

I remember the latter being a fun and original game with a pretty gfx style... Have never tried the former. Gonna do so now on my Nomad (awesomely modded by TmEE ;)).

Amazon sucks. I've attempted to buy 4 games from its "marketplace". One was immediately refunded (seller "listed it wrong" :P) one was described as "brand new" but arrived with dirt and nasty price stickers all over it, and a broken case (I got a part-refund - cost of return p&p wasn't worth it, figured I'd rather have something), and one had been packed so poorly that the case was pretty much destroyed on arrival. :mad: (The other, Bangai-O, was fine, and since I'd asked about the condition beforehand due to there being no description of it at all, the seller had sent me photos.)

This small experiment has confirmed my suspicions that Amazon (UK anyway) is a shitty place to buy games. Even worse than evilbay :(

As for topic - I'm waiting for some MD games to arrive, but tracking info says they're in customs. I expect buggerment by customs charges imminently :mad:

As with ANY Marketplace, sir... you have to do your homework and find a Business that shares your ideas when it comes to quality, pricing, and availability.


Ebay has been a fantastic place to build up a Gaming Collection imo... I spent a lot of time testing out different Sellers and settling on ones I can routinely trust. When you build up a solid business relationship with someone, you usually benefit in more than one way.

Considering I mostly buy old games, I don't think this really applies. It's not possible to form any kind of "solid business relationship" with ebay sellers, as with exceptions, the business sellers charge way too much for me to deal with, and will never offer any kind of loyalty discounts or whatever regardless - and the "hobby sellers" don't generally stay around for very long (and therefore tend not to care too much whether you're happy or not).

I was just experimenting with Amazon as an alternative, really. I'd always viewed it with suspicion/negativity (since there's no actual photos of the items, no combined shipping, etc) but a couple of months back I thought I'd take a look, since a few of the games were fairly priced, and Amazon seemed a lot harsher on who they allow to sell there (judging by Iron Lizard's experience anyway) so how bad could it possibly be? It exceeded my expectations :P
I don't believe I was a "stupid buyer" - perhaps I should've known better than to assume "Brand New and Sealed" didn't actually mean "Cracked Case and Stickers" without actually seeing the damn thing, but I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, as the seller had many previous transactions with no/few complaints, long list of + feedback, so for £5 I thought it was worth the risk.

The whole bad packing thing is an extra gamble, since I've had shittily packed things from all kinds of sellers. I started leaving messages like "please pack extra carefully" on some things like CD cases, card-boxed games etc, but it doesn't really help does it? :P It's disheartening to win a nice condition game for a relative bargain, when chances are it will arrive in a state of mushed-upness. :(

This doesn't mean I think "ebay is a shitty place to buy from, full stop" - I've gained most of my collection from there, and bought from some really good sellers, it's just hard not to focus on the crap - especially when there's no real alternatives at all. I'd probably even use an Amazon seller again tbh, if something good enough turned up (albeit with a bit of extra caution) - the initial bad experience just really put me off.

I don't hate Ghostbusters but I'm disappointed with it. When I bought it a year ago, I thought I was going to love it based on the gameplay vids I had seen on Youtube. However, when I finally played it I was like "meh, it's alright". I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. The bosses are pretty cool though. ;)

Yes even though Genesis was the system a grew up with, I was a very close minded gamer growing up only playing Games that were Beat Em Ups, games that featured characters from cartoons or comics I liked and Sonic obviously.

There were like 6 Games that = 99% of my playing time on the Genesis
