Just wondering what a good pair of headphones to buy would be. Right now I'm sort of leaning towards Sony Pro MDR-7506's. They used to be $100 but Amazon's dropped the price by $15 bucks.

AKG K-240 Monitor is what I use. Apparently there is a brandnew reissue of those.
I use Audio Technica ATH-M50. They're pretty nice.
I've been using my Philips SBC HP250 set for I think 5 years now... they're for indoor use but I used them EVERYWHERe, and the result is that they're beaten up and repaired a lot... but sound is still great :D
I just buy Headphones for like $1..good sound
Sennheiser.
My very audio-crazy oldest brother has an amazing pair of AKG headphones (not sure what model, but they cost 150$+) which he uses a tube amplifier with to make a really high quality sound. From a lossless file of a live concert, you could hear the spit in the singer's voice.
I have a pair of low-end Sennheiser cans that my mom bought off of Amazon and gave to me. They are very cheap but they don't sound like it.

These do NOT sound like a $30 pair of headphones. I was very surprised by their quality. And the price is cheap enough that if you break them or wear them out, who cares? Read some reviews of them and you'll see what I'm talking about. The general consensus is that these are an amazing bargain.
You get what you pay for with headphones, but there is definitely a point of diminishing returns with that stuff. I'm not enough of an audiophile that I need a $300+ pair of cans, but I don't want the $20 set of Sony's from Target, either. I would have bought myself something higher end than the ones I have if I were the one making the purchase, but these are nice enough that I don't feel the need to upgrade.
Chris
you can get headphones at the dollar tree that have STEREO Sound for a dollar
I've listened to a crap load of ~$100 headphones and I have to say my favorites are the Sony MDR-V6 Studio Monitor Series headphones and this is coming from a guy who HATES Sony audio with a passion. They've had this model around for decades but they still produce them today. They sound great for all around use (music and movies) and despite being studio monitors they have decent low end.
I bought a JVC HA-RX300 for about 20 bucks, best headphones I've ever used, they have a rocking bass sound.
I bought a set of Leapfrog headphones for $0.50 (that's right, fifty cents) at Goodwill. They are the sturdiest, most useful headphones I've ever had. I wouldn't spend more than a dollar on headphones if I were you. ;)
Love my Pioneer SE-450s, I'd only give them 3 out of 5 for sound quality but I've had them about 15 years and the damn things are indestructable.
