Stand-Out 360 Games?

I'm not much for replaying games once I beat em, I've got so many, with an endless backlog. I think I have something like 80 Xbox 360 games. I don't really fool with on-line or multilayer at all myself.

But stand out games...

All those games are excellent save for one or two of them.The problem with games today is that there's barely anything unique, everybody is trying to shoehorn PC games on consoles.Bayonetta, Bully,Tomb Raider are excellent games that are true console games, I wish they made more games like that.

I wouldn't know how to categorise a 'true' console game. Suffice to say that there's been a lot of overlap for +15 years now. Let's not forget many important PC titles did find their way to 32-bit consoles.. I believe that had the IBM-compatible PC market been huge in Japan we would have gotten more PC ports of JRPGs, driving and fighting games. And with keyboards and mice introduced into the console world more than a decade ago there's no reason why flightsims and RTS games shouldn't be playable on consoles.

I would blame the market more than anything else for the lack of demand for quirky, 'innovative' titles.

Stand-out single-player 360 games? I really enjoyed Bayonetta and Burnout Paradise - they're both focused on silly, OTT action in their respective genres, but they're sleek, well-presented, have fantastic controls, and basically are joys to play. Dead Rising is a gigantic love-letter to zombie movies, but it's an early title and it shows. Halo is a fun shooter with plot for window decoration. [edit] Dead Space is a great horror game, too. It's Alien meets Resident Evil meets Dawn of the Dead, but it's a fantastically scary game.

Really, there's lots of demos up on the Marketplace. I'd just pick a genre, set them downloading overnight and have a browse at your leisure later.

Funny considering they were made 'for' the PC and were simply ported 'to' the Consoles.

I didn't mind some overlapping, heck I bought Rogue Squadron for the 64 instead of my PC.My problem is the focus on the type of games being made.Most of the games being made are predominately PC titles stuck on the console.I wouldn't mind a few here and there, but there are genres on the consoles that are being ignored.Back on topic, you could also pick up Too Human, I've never played, but some people say it's good.It's a love it or hate it game.

Now, if you're looking at Xbox games that'll play on the 360, there's also a nice list:

Fable: The Lost Chapters (it plays so much better on the 360 controller IMO)
Jade Empire LE
Indigo Prophecy
Dead or Alive Ultimate
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball (your mileage may vary)
Phantom Dust (perhaps one of my favorite Xbox games)

Easily one the best games of the last generation.I looks good, it plays well, and it's very creative.You should be able to find a copy for pretty cheap.

The really ironic thing here to me is that I'm using 360 as a PC replacement (please don't budge in OldSchool) because I'm a cheapstake and don't want to upgrade (or rather re-buy a PC because upgrading is impossible). I'm over the fact that the genres that defined PC gaming in the 1990s are pretty much niche if not outright extinct. But enough derailing from me.



If you like spectacle fighters/hack & slashers this one might be worth recommending. I'd rather wait for Koei's Fist of the North Star instead. These games can be a huge drain. But.. one million troops!!

And playing with friends is fun as hell :D

Like WarmSignal said, I'm not the type of guy that re-plays a game after finishing it (with the exception of Dead Rising, after obtaining the Mega Buster, and LEGO Indiana Jones). However, these are (IMO) the 360's stand-outs (that I played):

360 games:
Dead Rising
Pretty much any LEGO game
Midnight Club: Los Angeles (excellent arcade racer)
The Orange Box
Project Gotham Racing 4
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (I liked it, although it was rather short)
[Prototype] (basically an improved Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, complete with a military against you, but with lots of blood, giant monsters and infected people. Lots o' fun)
Fallout 3
GRID and Colin McRae DIRT 2 (if you love realistic racing games)

XBLA games:
Both Geometry Wars games
Rez HD
Rocket Riot
Both Assault Heroes titles
Pac-Man: CE
Droplitz (really underrated puzzler)
Lode Runner
Cellfactor: Psychokinetic Wars

Thank you to everyone who responded. However...

I'm specifically looking for games that meet all of the following requirements:

1. Action/Adventure/Platformer
2. 6-12 hr single-player campaign
3. You have played through the game multiple times.

Regardless, it looks like I found my next candidate in Dead Space. I bought this game at the same time as Bioshock 2, but I haven't played it until now. What an awesome game! I wish I had skipped my last two 360 purchases and just gone straight to this one! :D

Dead Space... what a great game. Resident Evil 4 in space! And scarier! The zero-g segments blew me away at first.

lol I still haven't even played a completed 360 game so I wouldn't know. I'm next to Microsoft so I get to test games regularly but every time I'm there they ask when I'll buy a 360? I always reply with "When you make one that works".
