All-time Favorite Sega system?

I picked the venerable Megadrive of course.

And I agree with kool kitty89, the Dreamcast was pretty good for a 1998 machine and most PC games at the time only managed to best its launch titles in resolution. People's apathy and/or disdain for Sega were its downfall. But please there are other topics for these history sessions ;)

There comes a special console in everyone's lives and for me the MD was the one. The Dreamcast came pretty close, it was during my last years of being 'impressionable' so it did affect me more than what followed.

It's undoubtedly the Mega Drive, though I actually voted the Sega Saturn to catch up the second place, since it's pretty much my second top preference and it usually doesn't get the appreciation it deserves.

I love Nomad
In 1998 there was a Nomad on display at the mall, I was playing GoldenAxe 1 on it for 2 minutes, then I reset it and discovered it had a 3 in 1 menu!

I choose Sonic the hedgehog next, and it was faster than the one at home! I had no idea that the Nomad was running in Ntsc mode!

It was so small, yet so full of life and color with it's backlit screen. it felt hot like it was overheating but that was normal I think?

The Mega Drive is simply the best console ever together with the Playstation, although the Saturn is very nice too.

My vote is for the Genesis w/ the Master System & Saturn being tied for 2nd.

Well, the Mega Drive and Dreamcast are way out in front but I'd have to give the win the Mega Drive.

Master System is also a very nice system with some really competitive games on it, and had the best graphics for the time, the hardware was pretty reliable too with the top loading cartridges.

Saturn was an utter turd with virtually no worthwhile games and the few decent games are ridiculously overrated, so that goes in last.

I think Mega Drive wins. But it's a close one against Saturn. Never had much interest in
the Dreamcast in fact.

And Mega Drive is the only system of all that bunch that I ever played (except, maybe,
SMS through emulation), so the choice is obvious. I can't prefer something I never seen
in real life over a system I had almost all my life.

Sega CD. I played the hell out of that thing during the early 90s.

Genesis all the way, after that.. Dreamcast.

Didn't like the Saturn or the Gamegear, SMS was cool though.

Frankly I'm amazed at all the Genesis pickers, I mean come on that system doesn't have a single "Great"(although Shining Force 2 comes pretty close).

I mean even as mush as the Saturn was a Brick outside of Japan(really why praduce the system outside of Japan, if you aren't gonna praduce the games outside of Japan as well, most of the games are jp only), it even supposedly has a number of Greats.

Also what are people smoking, aside from the 32X, the SMS was the worst system, I find it amazing it got 2 votes.

I don't see why you think the SMS is bad, it actually had the balls to stand up to the NES in the states and put up a better fight then most of the others,and did quite well in european markets.

but add on on the genesis makes the mastersytem worthless but i loike the sms games more but my genesis is also my number one

EU wasn't considered part of the gaming community until the PS2 came out, why becase they weren't "gamers", they were downright Sega fanatics. If it didn't say Sega on the console, they ignored its existance. Hell I'm pretty sure even the 32X was considered a Success in EU.

Balls perhaps, but the fact is, Nintendo didn't even know the SMS existed, the NES was so much better, It's not funny. Come on now, just suck up your pride, you know that the SMS was a POS, compared to just about every other Sega Console.

PS. In any case though, nothing warrants people picking the SMS in this topic.

To Olls: I'm not trolling, I just don't see how "so many" people can pick the Genesis, with the DC or even the Saturn around.
