System Wars (Saturn vs. Nintendo 64) - part 4

Which system, given only these 5 games, would you take if you were stranded on a desert island with only a TV, solar generator, and one of these systems with the 5 games listed here.


1. NiGHTS into Dreams (Saturn) vs. Mario 64 (N64)
2. Radiant Silvergun (Saturn) vs. Star Fox 64 (N64)
3. Sega Rally (Saturn) vs. F-Zero X (N64)
4. Panzer Dragoon Saga vs. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
5. Panzer Dragoon II Zwei vs. Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Earth (N64)

My picks:

1. NiGHTS into Dreams (Saturn) > Mario 64 (N64)
-Mario gets old after a while. NiGHTS doesn't, for me.

2. Radiant Silvergun (Saturn) > Star Fox 64 (N64)
-Radiant Silvergun for me. That game will take a long time to master, although I'd probably prefer Dodonpachi, Gradius Deluxe Pack or Sexy Parodius personally.

3. Sega Rally (Saturn) < F-Zero X (N64)
-F-Zero X. I LOVE that game.

4. Panzer Dragoon Saga < The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
-tough call, but I go with Zelda by a cunt-hair.

5. Panzer Dragoon II Zwei > Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Earth (N64)
-another tough call. I'll go with Panzar Dragoon, but only because I find the characters in Sin & Punishment a little too cheesy for my liking.

Saturn wins... by a cunt-hair.

shouldn't it be part 5 since your last one was part 4, ah the spirit of oldschool lives on.

Buddy this time it's impossible, its a razor sharp draw. Too many greats gathered together. Gaming wins.

I had much the same feelings on the games, but put Mario 64 just ahead of Nights, so N64 won this round by a hair in my opinion.

My vote is for the Saturn, I've never been a big N64 fan.

Yes, it should. Unfortunately, thread titles can't be edited on this site to the best of my knowledge. I noticed that after I made the first post.

Did oldschool get banned? If so, then yeah... he had it coming. Trolling sale threads is f'ed up and he deserves the ban. Still, I liked this thread idea he came up with.

Hey, you're supposed to compare the 5 games... not the systems! I tried to make them as equal as possible. Tough with Radiant Silvergun in there. The only decent 2D shoot 'em up on the N64 is Star Soldier, and it just doesn't compare.

Anyways based on the games you picked i would have to go with N64 and usually i hate nintendo but for me the saturn was lackluster

The thing with the N64 is that most games were available/portable in/to either the PS1 or the Dreamcast (and beyond). The Saturn had so many more exclussives. I need not go far, though. All I have to say is, I'm in love with the Saturn's 2D library (of which the N64 lacks in the 99.99th percentile). Saturn ftw, baby! :D

You do realize that you are choosing the system based only on the 5 games listed, right? Of all the Saturn games there, only one features 2D gameplay... and even that game is in 3D! I didn't really have a lot on the N64 with to compare with 2D Saturn games. ;)

Mr. Dreamcast would like to talk to you. I do agree about the Saturn being the console of choice, though. The GC and Wii could also fall under your definition here.


Also, I edited the OP. Embarassing considering I'd owned the first Panzer Dragoon since it was new on store shelves!

I ALMOST did that on the first thread you made, but I always read through a thread before voting on a poll, just on general principles. By this time, people should have an idea that they aren't voting on the system, but the games matched up in the first post.

- I hate NiGHTS. The game pisses me off. Maybe I'm just not able to get into it, but Mario would hold me over a lot more then NiGHTS.

-Lets see, a 2D shoot-em-up vs some crappy early 3d garbage. Ok well that was a little harsh, but 2D shooter FTW!

3. Sega Rally (Saturn) < F-Zero X (N64)
-Don't particularly like either of them, but I would choose F-Zero X over Sega Rally.

4. Panzer Dragoon Saga > The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
-Adventure game piss me off. Next.

5. Panzer Dragoon II Zwei > Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Earth (N64)
-Panzer Dragoon is AWESOME. Love that game. Wish it wasn't so short.

I would take the Saturn to the desert island, merely for the satisfaction of dropping it into the ocean and then skimming the CDs on the surface.
