The Genesis Model 1 is always the best looking console for me. It's got that cool 80's sci-fi computer look to it. That and it always reminded me of KITT from Knight Rider.
I like the Dreamcast but I can't look at it without seeing a cat head (use the buttons for eyes, the controller ports for the mouth, follow the lines up on the sides for the pointy ears). I may just be incredibly weird though.
I own a wood grain light-sixer VCS and a Darth Vader 2600. I generally use the light-sixer for playing games because the switches on my Darth Vader are messed up (need to look into fixing them somehow). While the wood grain is classic 70's tech, I always thought the Darth Vader looked sexier too.
I like the appearance of the smaller redesigned systems, like the Genesis 3, SNES Mini, PSOne, PS2 Slim, etc. but you can't deny the sheer awesomeness of the original designs, specifically the Genesis and NES. VERY iconic.
Duo R.
If 32 bit consoles were retro I'd say the Saturn, JP white followed by US black.
Then this lovely creature would also be in the mix.

The Playstation HDD/DVD Recorder.
32bit consoles are most definitely retro.
Nope. 3D's not retro. Unless generated by something that plugs into a MD.
Anyway do you fancy the machine in the picture? It's like the proto Wii (which I don't run standing but does look pretty sexy in that posture).
edit = @ Waterfall: the PSOne's a good choice, I shouldn't have overlooked that.
I am personally offended by game consoles in the shape of a shoe box. They should all look like space ships, or space age equipment or not exist at all.
I found your two favorite game systems.

I like my definitions definitive. Rather than redefining retro every five years according to some vague and vagarious age rotation how about we just define retro as what's not in contemporary practice? 3D gaming is what's still en vogue: the Playstation generation introduced the type of gaming that is current, therefore the Playstation neither is retro nor will be till a new modus of gaming comes into place (Virtual Reality, whatever). 2D sprite based gaming is retro.
Thanks to the way the 32-bit generation was marketed, 3D just is synonymous with these consoles. Splitting hairs and calling 3D Genesis games truly next gen wouldn't work, and calling 2D Playstation games with their typically requisite (bad) voice actors and FMV cutscenes is not retro.
It depends which games those are, or to put it another way, how you would normally group arcade games amongst generations as during the 8 and 16 bit eras arcade machines were a generation ahead of home consoles. And if you're alluding to the 2D fighters those are still in fashion even if some are 3D modeled so it would be silly to exclude them. So are 2D shmups though bullet hells are quite a different breed. Anyhow I get your point but naming the 32 bit era after its relatively niche 2D selection would be like calling the SCD an arcade console just because it has a few racing, lightgun, and shooter games on it.
