I've always liked the look of the Jag unit itself. It's simple, black and sleek. Add the CD toilet attachment, and the thing just looks hideous. I can't think of a worse looking add-on...

The Jag CD looks more intentionally designed than this:

And let's just leave the CDX and 32X out of this.
I've got such a soft spot for the TG16 design I really wanted to get it and the Turbo CD instead of a DUO, or my eventual DUO/R. But yeah, it's almost as funky as the SuperGrafx plus PCE-CD

They needed to take the streamlined back plastic piece and make it match the CD-Attachment, not just remove it completely.
I agree completely. The TG looks cool with its plastic cover on the back. Without it, it looks awful. They should have kept a similar molding along with the CD unit to keep that rounded look. The system would have definitely benefitted aesthetically.
I have a soft spot for the TG16 as well. I love the Hucards (which I consider the coolest classic cartridge). I had a TG and CD (with Super System Card) back when they were being clearanced out. I regret selling it. The TG is right next to the Genesis as my favorite classic console. The Genesis had a broader, deeper library, but the TG just had some neat, funky games to it. In fact, the TG is just a funky machine all the way around.
Dang, I just had the idea to take a dremel to that plastic mold to make it slide right up to the CD unit. I wonder if the bottom plate would get in the way. Somebody should take two shots, one with the regular TurboGrafx-16 with the plastic cover on the back an one with the CD installed from the exact same angle so we can photoshop the most beautiful console plus add-on ever.
