I have been thinking about buying a Sega Saturn, is it worth it? I am a huge Sega fan but the Sega Saturn seams kind of expensive (most findings being around about 40$) and I really do not know of any good games for it.

The system is only worth it if you plan to import.
Some of the best games for the system were Japan-only. And the US ones that are really good tend to be pricey.
If you buy a US Sega Saturn, it is a must for you to buy the Action Replay so you can play imports. They are about $25 from Play Asia. The Saturn is also a fantastic system If you are a fan of 2D fighters.
if you have a decent pc you can use SSF its a very good saturn emulator and runs most games now.
get a real saturn, and a 3d controller!! spend a little bit of money on some great games!
check into this: http://www.amazon.com/Sega-Saturn/lm...hor_title_full
and as far as games, this list is pretty awesome:

If you think $40 is expensive for a console, you'd best be looking somewhere else, unless you prefer to go against the grain with what's popular. As others have said, the Saturn is only good for Japanese imports and even then, the best games can be expensive.
However, if you're like me, you'll find cheap games that are fun to play right on the US Saturn. Sega's arcade at home can be consumer friendly too. :D
The most expensive Saturn game I own is probably Burning Rangers, which I traded a copy of Suikoden for when the going price for that was somewhere in the 60 dollar range. Next is a copy of Sonic Jam that I bought sealed (I have since opened it, of course), that I payed somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 bucks for. After that, it drops substantially. The next highest price I payed for a Saturn game is $27 (Shinobi Legions).
I got Astal for ten, Baku Baku for twenty, Darius Gaiden for ten, Fighters Megamix for eighteen, Mr. Bones for fifteen, Night Warriors for twenty-one, NiGHTS into Dreams (new w/ box + controller) for twenty. I traded an extra Genesis for Sonic R, and I wrote a paper about the effects of cocaine usage on the brain for Christmas NiGHTS (+ sleeve).
Now, all I am trying to demonstrate is that it really depends on where you are. A lot of my Saturn purchases have been made at swap meets and an awesome little mom n' pop shop, but several of them are eBay purchases. Now it is true that those prices are a little higher than what Genesis games go for, but I wouldn't call any of those exorbitant. It's true that you're never gonna get Panzer Dragoon Saga or Guardian Heroes for a reasonable price these days, but that is sadly just the nature of the market.
I have a meagre collection of Saturn games (17), that cover a fair number of genres and I honestly don't feel like I overpaid for any of them. Now, if this was my only console, I can see where this would be a downside, but if the OP already has other consoles (particularly the Genesis), then the Saturn occupies a very interesting gaming niche and it deserves to be considered, imo.
Of course, if he doesn't, then the standard rule applies: get a Genesis first.
No You shouldn't get one because it won't last long because of moving parts you get a nes or snes
There's only one problem with your point though. Most, if not all of the game prices you listed, don't reflect current market values. This is either due to the local purchases (uncommon) or because you bought them all years ago (more likely).
That's why you get two of them (I have a model 1 and 2). :D
There's few consoles that warrant a purchase for one game.
Sega Saturn is that console. Dragon Force is that game.
Does a bear shit in the woods?
I say get one. It's probably my favorite Sega console. If you play your cards right, you can pick up some really great games for cheap. You will do more bargain hunting than most systems. The Saturn wasn't popular in the western world, so there are fewer A list titles in circulation. This is what keeps the prices up.
As others have said, get a Pro Action Replay 4 in 1. Like immediately.
Here's a break down of my Saturn purchases over the past year to give you an idea of cost. Titles are marked JP for Japan releases and USA for USA releases.
Soukyugurentai JP $35 (eBay) - complete
Bulk Slash JP $55 (play-asia) - complete
Daytona USA USA $5 (local shop) - disc only
Sega Rally Championship Netlink Edition USA $10 (local shop) - disc only
Virtual On Netlink Edition USA $10 (eBay) - disc only
Soukyugurentai Otokuyo JP $35 (eBay) - complete
Guardian Heroes USA $75 (eBay) - complete
I guess it really all depends on what type of games you like to play. If you're looking for really long action adventure games, lots of RPGs or 3D platformers it's probably not the system to get.
If you enjoy fighting, 2d platformers, arcade styled action games, and shmups it's a great system.
I've owned mine for about two years now and have amassed a sizable collection (not sure now many games off the top of my head), and so far it's my favorite Sega system that's not the Genesis.
...
It's an overrated console.
I started collecting for it and was repeatedly disappointed by the games I picked up. I busted $400 in collecting for it, and never once felt content with what it offered. That's when I gave up.
Short answer: yes
Long answer: yesssssssssssssssssssss
I got mine as a gift, symphony of the night is my favorite game and I got a saturn and a copy of the saturn castlevania for christmas. I had been wanting one for years. Is it worth it to buy it? Well the saturn version of this game slows down even with no enemies on screen and the loading time is terrible, the new areas aren't worth it imo, especially for the cost of this game.
The saturn in general is a pretty cool system to have, but as others have said you need to import. Import versions of games are cheaper anyway, you can get mint versions of virtual on, puyo puyo, darkstalkers, layer section, and several other great games for less than ten dollars shipped (unless you want ems).
Also the controller is boss. The sega and ascii sticks are great too and can be had for 10 dollars new. The 3d pad can cost upwards of 20 dollars though, I got a used jap white one for 17. Action replay costs 25 from playasia. If I bought it myself I'd just get a jap saturn.
If you don't have a genesis you'll get more enjoyment out of that though, or maybe even a dreamcast first. I'd get saturn last out of those 3.
The Saturn is absolutely worth owning. There are plenty of expensive games, but if you are on a budget there are plenty of cheap ones as well. You can go on ebay and find some disc only titles pretty cheap, or check the forums, Last Call Hall has some good stuff for almost nothing in the selling forums here right now.
Where in NC are you? I have a Model 1 Saturn, if you are close enough to me you wouldn't have to pay shipping if you wanted to buy one.
I'd like to stand on the side of all of the comments that say yes, if your taste in gaming is broad enough. The most popular games on the Saturn are 2D shooters and arcade style games. Pretty much every Sega console is way more action oriented than adventure/RPG oriented and the Saturn is even more so.
With that said, Shining the Holy Arc and Shining Force III are absolutely stellar RPGs, but they might be too expensive nowadays. Obviously Panzer Dragoon Saga is brilliant but too expensive.
If you can't look at 3D with eyes from fifteen years ago you probably won't like anything on the Saturn except for Sega's stuff. If you like to see experimental games, the Saturn has a number of 3D titles that are very much worth playing.
I would highly recommend looking into any of the following games. Read their gamefaqs reviews first to see if you find any of them interesting. If you're a gamer at least twenty of them should stand out as worth looking into.
Out of the few Saturn games I have (barely put any money into it), my favs are Sega Rally, Daytona USA, Virtua Fighter (1 or 2, doesn't matter), Rayman (frustrating but fun), NiGHTS (confusing though), Road Rash, Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, Command & Conquer and a couple of other titles I can't remember off the top of my head. I also have a disc only Bug! kicking around, I should really give it a try.
Oh yeah, off topic question. Is Road Rash on Saturn one of the better versions? Or is the 3DO version still the best?
I LOVE my Saturn, and I didn't have one back in the day. Whether or not it's worth it (in my opinion) depends on how comfortable you are with being a dirty rotten filthy pirate. I have no problem with it at all, and Saturn + mod chip + underground-gamer + Saturn Region Patcher is gaming heaven. It has a lot more old school flavor than the Playstation so it provides a different kind of 32-bit experience.
Chris
Here is a comparison of the Saturn and PS1 versions of Road Rash that I made a while back. Gameplay wise they are identical, I haven't played the 3DO game in a very long time and haven't been motivated to drop $25 on it to make another video. From what I hear the Saturn and 3DO games are identical. The PS1 version introduces full screen dithering and entirely different music that fooled me into believing it was CD-Audio.
Seriously, Saturn is a console for people that already have everything else. It's not something you'll enjoy if you are 16 and depend on your allowance.
Buy something useful instead.
Or how about an unmodded Saturn with an Action Replay 4-in-1 and mastery of the disc-swapping trick? It looks like it could be a pain-in-the-ass (never tried it myself--my Saturn controllers died in storage), but it'd be easier than modding your console (which may not be the best option for us model 1 owners) and much cheaper than shelling out hundreds for Panzer Dragoon Saga.
As far as pirating goes, who cares? The best Saturn games will cost you way more than they're worth playing.
The problem is the disc swap trick can damage your CD drive over time because it is physically impossible to remove the disc without causing the spindle to momentarily stop spinning, which would put severe stress on the motor.
Seriously, the disc swap trick is just selfish. The last thing we need is fewer working Saturns for those of us who actually play games on ours. Just pay somebody to put a mod chip in your Saturn or emulate using SSF.
Heh, I doubt anyone is really considering the Saturn as their primary system at this point ;)
There are, however, a TON of great games available for it, many of which you can't play on any other system... I think it's definitely worth picking up! I'm sure I'm leaving out a lot of worthwhile titles, but here's some of my favorite releases from the stuff I've collected so far:

- about a million great fighters: Darkstalkers games, Street Fighter games, Neo Geo Stuff, the Capcom vs. games, etc... all of which are GREAT on the Saturn
... Plus it has one of the greatest controllers ever created :)
Now, I have to remember this!
I only have a Dreamcast (Nice) from Sega. XDQuote:
Seriously, Saturn is a console for people that already have everything else.
Ya, I'm 16;Quote:

Yep, I don't have a job, yet, and I do depend on my allowance! ^^''Quote:
(...)and depend on your allowance.
So, this is solved: NO Saturn for me! :p (Well, I haven't really wanted this console, I was just curious. My DC is far more than enought!) After that crappy GenMobile experience, I do listen to you, Christuserloeser!
Expensive-to-collect-for systems can still be fun GameX. I play lots of games on my Model 1 Saturn (with my minty M2 Saturn tucked away in a Dreamcast box) even though they aren't anywhere near the most popular. I've also heard about lots of fun domestic Turbo Grafx-16 games that are cheap and not too uncommon.
Unfortunately, modding isn't a viable option for model 1 owners who have neither the appropriate soldering experience nor electronics knowledge. Many places will outright refuse to mod these systems, presumably due to the tedious work involved.
Most people I've seen swapping discs say they've never experienced any problems with the motor. Of course this doesn't necessarily mean it isn't causing any damage at all, though some of these people don't believe it ever will (I'd be awfully reluctant to make a claim like that).
has anyone had luck at sending the saturn to get chipped at racket boy, they charge $55, which is basically a $30 installation fee.
It could be worth.
