Interesting... from what I read, the biggest problem was with Drivers. I wish it'd run on the 169.21s I use. Morrowind and Oblivion do just fine on them... but nope, FO3 acts like a little bitch on them and does this stutter nonsense.

To improve 360 performance I recommend installing the games to either the HDD or an external USB drive (an 8GB stick should do the trick). The difference is especially noticeable in open-world games. Halo 3 is possibly the only game that doesn't benefit from local install, but then Halo is an absurd franchise =P
Oh I never heard of that Nvidia issue before -- That does seem like another big issue though. Yet, even on more "adequate" drivers with a freshly installed OS I still had major crashing issues. Hell, even the patch would error out. I started using a program called game booster in conjunction with the .ini mod and it's such a relief to not have to worry about major slowdown and crashing every 10 minutes. But I don't think that'll be enough to get around the GPU driver issue of yours...
360...no matter how hard i try, and I have really tried, I simply cannot get into this game. The same thing with oblivion. I dont know what it is, but they dont capture my interest.....
Well... after having my P3 for a little over a month now... and FO3 for about the same amount of time... FO3 has frozen on me twice in around 60 hours worth of play.
I don't know if that's the game or the P3... because another game also froze on me. All 3 of these freezes have come since the last OS update.
FO3 is one of the best Games I've ever played... and it is easily the best feeling FPS I've played with a Gamepad.. the controls are perfect. It's actually changed the way I think about playing FPSs with a Gamepad... I love it now! M&KB will always be King... no doubt... but the Gamepad is a solid alternative to my wrist issues. For SP play, it rocks... I wouldn't ever try to be competetive with a Gamepad though.
Interesting... different strokes my man. FO3 has easily been the most addictive game I've played in the last 5 years. My GF has 'not' been happy with me the last 3 weeks.
I have completely ignored the Main Quest and have simply dug into exploring the Wastelands and have loved every inch of that map:!:
It is a Grind of a game as all RPGs are... but for those who enjoy that kind of thing, it's done very, very well. The GOTYE is definitely a Masterpiece of the Genre. Morrowind is still my fav but this is very close.
All in all... if it wasn't for the messed up (Day/Night Transitions) and Aliasing issues that are specific to the P3 version, I'd give it a 99%. Even with ugly Jaggies all over the place, the game is still gorgeous.
Honestly, I was 'this' close to taking Bethesda to small claims to get my $60 back when I first played the game because of the no AA for the P3 version... after sinking 20 HRs into it in the first week, I decided to let it go.
small claims court? really? jesus is Americaland that bad.
more to add;
I played it on all 3, PC I played a torrent version (to see if it was worth buying on home console) 360 I played and finished it with about 120hours play time and when I got pissed off with the 360 and aquired a PS3 I played it roughly about 50 hours.
PS3 despite the legal action inducing "jaggies" was the closest to the PC for me, the PC being the "besterest" or even benchmark for the game.
however despite slight or even minute texture differences, some lighting differences and jaggies they all played the same.
I dislike Oblivion I dislike it to the point of not being able to play it for more than 20 minutes a time, but Fallout much like its predecessors hooked me till the end I have never encountered a game with such a sculpted landscape, missions, weapons, dialogue and easter eggs and in jokes.
and still a few years after release keep thinking about starting up a new game.
I know doooode! I think I literally squeeled when it was announced and near pissed myself when I saw screens.
False Advertisement - P3 version. The Box has pics of the 360 or the PC version on the fold out Pic of the GOTYE. Those two versions of the game employ AA while the P3 version does not. I asked for a refund from Bethesda on those grounds, they stated their policy.
When a Customer is wronged, they have a right to a refund, and if it's the stance of the Company involved to ignore that request, then what other option is left but Small Claims?
If I would have known before purchasing the game that AA wasn't available on the P3 version... guess what... I wouldn't have bought it.
Isn't that neat how that works :|... the premise that a product should be advertised properly so that the Customer gets a fair deal. "buyer beware" yada/blada... I should have known better to do my homework, but I've been seeing people go on and on and on about the 360 and P3 "being on par with PC" for years now (hell, look at my PC versus Console thread, lol...) so I wrongfully assumed that the P3 version would be fine.. and after seeing the crisp (obviously AA was being used) Pic on the P3 box, I was sold...
Of course, immediately upon playing the game I learned that the product I purchased was NOT the same product being advertised via the Pic on the box.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
fuck id never of believed it had I not of read it.
the things that I see are wrong are;
1, AA has never been advertised or used as a marketing item in order to sell the game.
2, Lack of AA does not break nor make the game unplayable.
3, assumption that software contains a feature which is not advertised and then complaining about it when it's not included.
4, the fact your actually contemplated or infact went as far ahead to sue/small claims a developer over a game due to an assumption.
5, using screens barely bigger than 1" to make an accurate judgment about engine rendering.
you should of done more homework or just ya know stopped complaining and played the game.
people expect everything nowadays and stupid shit breaks out when they feel wronged. so you don't have AA, Id be more pissed about the pop up or installation times on PS3 games or lower res textured despite on the small screen shots it looks just as colourful and fruitful as a PC/360 screen shot.
there was no advertisement of AA on the box, hence even concidering small claims is absolutely stupendous! talk about getting bent out of shape about nothing.
Wow, you typed all that... ok dude.
1. AA has been a part of PC quality gaming for close to 20 years (the P3 & 360 are smalltime PCs)
2. Your opinion has no bearing on the situation.
3. Did you read my post? Obviously not. The PICTUREs on the Playstation 3 Box show that AA is obviously being used... which led me to believe that the P3 version in fact had AA.
4. Christ... read #3, and then do yourself a favor and learn to READ PEOPLES posts before replying.
5. What? Don't try to tell me what I can discern from a picture... that's like me guessing if you know anything about Music... or hell anything.
The hell there wasn't... the Pics OBVIOUSLY show AA being used. A half blind monkey can see that.
Can't believe I just replied to your Trollish post. :|
AA has not most certainly been part of PC gaming for 20 years!?!?! you're telling me a 3DFX Voodoo could support AA out of the box? it could barely do 128x128 textures how the hell can you AA a grand support of 50,000 polys ? I can't remember but id be impressed to know even Half-Life 1 supported AA.
AA support really didn't come in across the board for along time into PCI stand alone card, even the V5 couldn't get stable AA.
you cannot denote features from a screenshot regardless it actually states "AA" included or used it's a presumption really on PC gamers can make and even then it doesn't hold much ground...it is just a hissy fit over nothing.
Games on consoles are sculted and optimized for that platform so if it lacks certain features which otherwise would render the game unplayable or fubar then why should it be included? it's not a case of them not letting you have it, it's a case they just can't give it too you.
hey ive got no reason to bash you for wanting AA support fuck it should support AA but it's not an advertised feature and certainly not one to go taking people to small claim courts over! it's outright stupid to sue someone over something you expected on your own assumption.
I'm not going to go in circles with you about a Picture showing one thing on the products box, and then the product looking DIFFERENT than the PICTURES On the BOX.... b/c you obviously fail to realize the simple logic in that argument. The hell I can't.
AA was around 'before' Half Life, lol.... IDTech 1 supported it. Let's take a look and see when that came about shall we... just looked at the Wiki page for Quake 1 and it came out in '96. And what did I say in my previous post... "close to 20 years"... so yeah... that works out... as I stated.
Ha, now you're going to try and proport to me as to why AA wasn't included. I've come to find out in the last month that Publishers REFUSE to pay their Devs enough to ensure working AA on most P3 ports of PC games... why... because the P3 ONLY has 256 MBs of Memory on its Video Card which is a JOKE. I had no idea... I thought the damn thing had 512 like the 360 but apparently Sony made a complete dumbshit move with the P3. Because of this ridiculous oversight on Sonys part, it takes some creative Programming to utilize all "8 cores" or whatever convoluted CPU the P3 has in order to do AA.
It can be done... it simply has to be programmed. Sonys only requirement is that the games released on it's P3 have to meet a certain FPS. Other than that, they give two shits about the quality of the Ports apparently. Some are better than others I've come to find out.
The Star Wars Unleashed game for instance... has TEARING. In 2010, a Game Tearing is simply a JOKE.
I've learned to live with these retarded oversights because I can't return the system and the 40 games I've bought for it... but I tell you what.. I will not be supporting Sony on their next console unless they specifically state that ALL games released on their system have AA and working V-Sync. Nintendo doesn't try to sell a PC wannabe with their current Console (least they're honest)... Microsoft and Sony however are attempting to push the PC market to the side. After hearing sooo many argue that the P3 and 360 are PC equals, and doing reading, I thought I was ok going with the P3 yet I come to find out that the majority of individuals (including "respected" reviewers) simply have LESS standards than me.
If you're happy with Mediocrity then by all means... swim in it and enjoy it, but do NOT attempt to stifle others who expect quality when they're promised a quality product.
Game of the Year, PC version. My old P4 3.00GHz, AGP 7800GS (overclocked) doesn't always like to make it smooth, but it's still playable. Hell, it runs better than Oblivion did, and I made it through that twice on this rig, so...
This has always been the case, and people call you elitists because you have higher standards.:daze:
Wow your pushing it, I had a friend play FO3 with similar setup, but with a weaker GPU.FO3 was definitely easier on PCs than Oblivion.
