This is what a genesis clone should be!!
THIS is the kind of stuff AtGames should be making. Instead they rely on a Titan ARM core running an emulator that has proven to be a piece of shit, and yet, they're still stuck on using that garbage hardware. Poor... very, very poor. Shame on AtGames for releasing their shitty clones and putting Sega's name on them!
Actually, now that I see this, it makes me want to try and build a Genesis from scratch using parts from two dead Genesis Model 1s. The only thing I'm missing, however, is a video encoder. Meh... I'll just pull out a CXA1645 from a PlayStation.
Well, much to my dismay, there isn't much wireless to it internally :? ...Perhaps other Songa II revisions had it at some point, but this one doesn't show any traces, other than the infrared cover:

The board, almost the same as the Scorpion/Aito with a few IC package differences..Includes an obsolete Motorola MC13077 encoder rather than the usual CXA1145:

Switches same as Scorpion and some Aito's:

MC13077? How good is this encoder?
This is actually the first Geniclone I've seen with a Zilog Z80. All the others I've seen make use of Goldstar Z80s.
Say, are these NTSC clones, or are they originally set to work in PAL?
Is this one of those clones that you can disassemble a cartridge and plug it into the system to serve as a built-in game? If so, I'm curious to know how the circuitry is like for switching between the built-in game and a cartridge.
Beautiful machine. Now if only the recent clones could compare:(
awww, no wireless :(
still, its a superclone and they're GOOD, and this one looks sexy too ^^
1.4 billion Chinese, thousands of talented engineers, and probably hundreds of very capable companies, and Sega gives away their license to AtGames. :(
Does the 32X work with it?
The Motorola encoder is alright, but not as good as the CXA1145 I'd say...It does output s-video with just a couple of resistors (it has luma & chroma output pins) thou...Also, this system encoder has a switch for NTSC and PAL-N settings, along side with the "Universal Cartridge Converter" switches...
Even though, it is directly compatible with the Sega CD system, only after a modification can be compatible with the 32X system....But for beign a clone, you can ask for much more really ;) ....
Here's a craptastic video of the Songa II in action (beware, adjust the volume down if don't want blown speakers :ok: ) :
And its predecessor, the Songa Model 1 :p :
Because even Sega clones get more than one model
....
any chance of some photos of it on?
Wow. That's incredible. They look so cheesy with the "16-Bit" logo. As if it's a official product. I love it!
I like the Songa1 better! is the plastic ok or is as crappy as say a dendy?
Songa2 looks cool
