Taking Adam out as a playable character in Streets of Rage 2 & 3.
Gamers' general acceptance of dual analog sticks as a viable replacement for the Mouse and Keyboard when playing FPS.
Motion Control. I just don't like it.

Probably not what you meant, but Square's initial shift to Sony in 96/97 is a significant example of that too, a major catalyst that made Sony the general monopoly on the console market it was from ~1997-2007. (vs goign multiplatform after getting frustrated with the N64 -ie Saturn and PSX givne they had an equal presence on the Japanese market in 1996) I wonder if Sony had any specific pull over Square going Sony exclusive. (granted there was the PC port too, but that's a bit of a different market -and also happened with other PSX "exclusives")
1. Konami, besides the GBA/DS games, Castlevania isn't what it once was. 2. Achievments/Trophies on PS3/360. People act like its a huge selling point when bashing the Nintendo the Wii. 3. Sony, for a over hyped PS2 that harmed the Dreamcast. 4. EA, they've been phoning it in and coloring by the numbers for so long that I wonder how they are still around sometimes. It would of been nice if they added classic controller support to the Madden Wii titles, slackers. :p
Yea not really what I was talking about.
Well FF7 was actually a great game, and while it had very good graphics, it was heavily focused on gameplay. However that was the catalyst to all the graphics over gameplay BS, that would come in the future(thus spawning the bad marketing concept of selling games by way of a CG created trailer, and not by footage of actual gameplay, which only escalated the problem).
I doubt it, becuase Square fell in love with the PS, before Sony started bribing companies, and the fact that now Square is multi platform, supports atleast that much(the PS3 is a bad system, so they just moved on). Although with that being said, I'm positive Sony egged Square on with the whole graphics over gameplay thing, speeding up the shift to such a lot faster, then it would've otherwise.
Square started going down this graphics over gameplay path with FF8(it was still a good game, but that's the start, and after that, all hell broke loose).
PS. It's pretty damn ovious that Sony bribed NIS though(sigh, hell I can't even remember the last time they released an original game that wasn't developed for the PS3 or PSP).
1. Nintendo with their draconian licensing agreements back in the day.
2. Whoever thought it was a good idea to remove the FM chip from US/Euro Master systems.
3. Most 360/ps3 games running at 30fps instead of 60.
Surprised no one mentioned him yet..

Some of these complaints are ludicrous. Companies don't owe people a perpetual continuation of their franchises or not altering anything about them.
