Being that this is a top-down shooter, is it technically a run-n-gun?

Castlevania Bloodlines should be in there... or is it not considered a part of the 'Run and Gun' Genre simply because it doesn't use conventional firearms as weapons:?:
Damn... definitely MERCS!!!
Not sure about Earthworm jim though... it's considered a 'Platformer' no?
1 is a cool game... 2 is definitely a neat game (have it for the SNES), passed on 3... looked like a 10 year olds game to me.
The ignore function is dumb... I figured you'd get over having your ass handed to you eventually anyway so I reinstated you.
From the vids, it looked really lame so I decided not to buy it. If you wanna send me a copy to 'test out', I'll gladly do that, but I'm not paying for it.
so... would you guys rather pick up gunstar heroes or probotector? Don't say both but if you had to choose, wich one do you find better overall? and also why?
Yes. I don't use/own any emulators on my PC though as it's not my cup of tea. If it's an overpriced game, then buying it on VC is a sound option. I 'might' make a PC strictly for MAME emulation at some point, but past that: I'll never emulate Console games on my PC.
I've seen vids of it on youtube and it doesn't appeal to me... the zombie game just doesn't look fun.
Miquell, Universal Soldier (Turrican II), Vectorman 1 and 2, Alien 3, Alien Soldier, MERCS, Gunstar Heroes, Earthworm Jim 1 and 2, WolfChild and Zombies Ate My Neighbors are the cream of the MD crop in the run-n-gun genre.
At least give WolfChild a "test" run - it's a lost classic.
No love for Atomic Runner?
That Universal Soldier is pretty badass (only played for a few mins to make sure the cart worked), damn... Alien 3 is really awesome (totally different game than the SNES version... the graphics are different too)!!
That's a weird one... idn't that a straight up Shooter?
Haven't played it yet. Another game I forgot to say was Ranger-X/Ex-Ranza; brillant, brillant game. Perhaps the best graphics ever on the MD coupled with awesome music and kickass gameplay.
EDIT: Just remembered another great game: Cannon Fodder. It's a UK-only game ported from the Amiga with you leading a crack team of commandos to wipeout all enermies on a given map. Funny as hell to play.
I have no idea what everyone sees in Vectorman. It is a decent game at best. The visuals are nice, sure, but the game is so same-y and boring. All flash and no substance, just like Donkey Kong Country.
Anyway, for me I'd have to say Gunstar Heroes and Contra: Hard Corps. Really liked what I played of Alien Soldier, but I only played for about 15 minutes. The Adventures of Batman and Robin is a lot fun but it's definitely on the difficult side, and it suffers from some serious pacing issues. Robocop Vs. The Terminator is a lot of fun, too.
Was Batman and Robin a run-n-gun? I'm pretty sure its a brawler like Streets of Rage, right?
