Donkey Kong Country as well, but it's a solid platformer coupled with excellent graphics so I don't agree there as much.

I think both games have excellent graphics, and play well enough. But there are so many superior games in either genre that to see Vectorman and DKC consistently make it into "Top 10" lists on their respective systems is a little baffling to me. If I had to give them a numerical rating, they both would score probably 7/10.

The Adventures of Batman & Robin is a Contra-esque, run-n-gun game. However, when you get close enough to the enemies you will do a physical attack, perhaps that's why you thought it was a brawler.

True enough... although I'd probably give them 8 or 9s. They look amazing (texture quality/level design/flow), sound amazing, and run very well. I think that's what makes a great game. :)

I've only played about 2 mins of the opening level and I assumed it was a brawler, just for the reason you said. I couldn't stand the game myself; too much foes on-screen at once...

Three best Run'n'gun games? Well, Gunstar Heroes on 1st place (because Green is SO badass), and Contra: Hard Corps/Adventures of Batman and Robin on 2nd place (couldn't decide which one is better).

It's a tough game for sure, but if you're willing to get into it it's quite playable. I've still only once made it to level 3, though, where shit just got too hot for me to handle. But it's a really impressive game (the bosses are HUGE), and it boasts some of the best visuals on the system. Soundtrack is really cool as well, and co-op is great fun if you have a friend handy.

I don't mind giving the game another chance; if it's good as you say it is, then I'm happy to take another spin at it.

Cannon Fodder is loads of fun to play, no matter which system you're playing it on (well, maybe with the exception of the Game Boy Color version)

Regarding Vectorman getting into Top [insert number] lists, I've got no problem with that. DKC however, at least for me, is kinda overrated. Sure, it was a technical achievement (right?), and it was a fun game, but DKC2 surpassed that one on so many levels. And Dixie's helicopter spin attack on that one rules.

What bugs me about that game is that even with the many allowable configurations, you still have to press a button to turn around and you still can't move backwards (except for during boss fights). It would be a pretty nice game otherwise, and I can even deal with the screen self-scrolling, but the controls ruin it for me.

That's what kinda sucks about the game. I think it was also like that in its original arcade version (Chelnov: Atomic Runner)
