What happened to the Neoflash Cart that had a card slot to put Gen/MD ROM's to play..That would be better
It was a hoax.
I've had one for a year or so and yes, I am still very satisfied with it. Seeing as most of my Mega-CD collection is Japanese I couldn't live without it! The Bare Knuckle 3 translation is flashed to the cart permanently. Well, permanently as in I don't want to delete it, not permanently as in the cart is f*cked.
Is the Cart Bios still in development ? Further improvements (like SMS Support in Neomyth Card) planned ?
No, SMS support was planned but removed from hardware to save time / cost of the CPLD.
It has nothing to do with bios update, its features the hardware lacks.
There is no bug found on the bios so far. Running roms, backuping saves and running segacd bioses is fine.

In an unreleased bios, you could set GG codes but its pretty useless as rom with checksums will fail after GG code is set. So you have to set a new GG code to disable checksum test as well.
Also, you can patch GG codes before flashing the game, so, that explain why this update was never released.

It is pretty hard for me to recommend anything for buyers now.
I cannot support companies that just copy other's work (multibios features anyone?).
On the other hand, megacart will never support usb/sd as its not made of stuff stolen from various GBA/MD flash cards stolen themselves from other Japanese companies.
So yeah, will have to take action soon regarding megacart and its clones, but I finish Piersolar first because kicking small ass in china is pretty tricky ;).
Thx for your interest :)
Yeah, a price drop and update would be nice! :)
cool, will you be able to buy through amazon or ebay?
Probably a dumb question, but is the Megacart still available?
EDIT: Seeing as I have ordered one and it has been sent, the answer to my own question is yes.
Bump from beyond the grave. I've been getting issues like this with mine too, with the 32x attached I get a 100% repeatable (on my system) crash in Earnest Evans (perhaps it doesn't like Wolfteam games).
Also, bit late to the party here and I don't know if this is usual, but has anyone else noticed that if you boot the MegaCD using a bios on the cart that the seek times between CD tracks are a lot longer. I was beginning to think that my drive was on its way out, until I noticed that the MegaCD's own bios accesses the disc much faster than the bios' on the Megacart. This causes a problem when some games start cutscenes before the audio track has started playing. I can probably guess why this is happening, but I haven't seen it mentioned.
You could test to run the same bios as your megacd one from megacart and see if seek time issue is confirmed, which is very unlikely.Quote:

What could happen is that some bioses (usa vs japan or europe vs japan) may have different performance, but there is no workaround.

Regarding 32x attachement. Many issues comes from the white ribbons inside the 32x that cause issue ONLY in some situations, including megacart.
I got those issues as well. The only solution is to have a perfect 32x (no ribbon with weak connection) and believe its a very common problem everyone have without knowing it or WILL have.
----
Sol-Feace, there has been report of crash on level1 but the setup was never clear to me.
- remove 32x if youre not 100% sure internal ribbons are fine, test again
If still not working :
- the game might have an internal protection that requires a region mod on the genesis (not fixable without a mod).
- the game might just have code that bypass the bios and just crash on foreign machine (not fixable).
It would be cool to have a compatibility list. But i'm pretty sure nobody reported problems except with Sol-Feace. (and now Ernest Heavans, sorry for that).
Thanks
Fonz
my Sol-feace issues got solved by cleaning up the MCD connector and reseating the ribbons in 32X, no more trouble since then :)
Yep, that's what I tried to confirm what I was seeing. I performed a simple test using the Japanese version of Sol Feace. I have a European MegaCD 2 so I used the onboard bios and the Megacart European one. In each case I went into the CD player and set it to play tracks 2 and 22. I didn't have a stopwatch but on the onboard bios it took roughly 1 second to seek between the two, using the megacart bios it took at least 3 seconds. Weird, eh?
For the record, I'm using a European MegaCD 2 connected to a Megadrive 1.
I'm probably completely off on these questions but what happens when the cart loads the Bios? does it overwrite the existing bios thats currently loaded in memory? or does the cart act as an standard cartridge application accessing to the CDROM drive?
