I'm alittle surprised the MegaCart never saw any firmware updates; Game Genie support and proper Sega CD RAM save support would of been great!
I ordered mine a few years ago, so i don't have any recent experience with them, sadly. A member by the name of Fonzie designed the thing, I'm sure if you send him a PM, he'll sort things out for you.
I received the card today :D within 3 days after they shipped it :)
Anyway can anyone tell me how it works? I put in the cd and pressed start to flash. don't know what it's for or do I only need to put in the cartridge to play different region games and save?
when I put in only the cartridge and a pal sega cd game. it goes to statup but when I want to run software it goes back to cartridge menu.
pls. could anyone help me? :( I can't find any faq either
I'll hepl you; what exactly did you buy it for -- to play games from another regions or to play ROMS on it?
EDIT: I'll assume you brought the MegaCart to play CD games from other regions on you're PAL console.
This is what you do:
1. Put you're game cd into the Mega CD and the Megacart into the Mega Drive.
2. Turn On the Md; now you have to do this BEFORE the Megacart menu loads up, hold one of these buttons:
Button A for the US Sega CD Bios, Button B for the Japanese Bios, Button C for the Eupeoan Bios, or START to load the default BIOS; use this if you wish to flash ROMS from a CD.
3. If the region of the game matches the BIOS, then all you have to do is press START and the game will load up.
Thank you! How do I use the cart for saving games with my sega cd?
You can't save games from the Mega CD to the Mega Cart; you only back-up them. You'll need a RAM cart for that.
Or do you mean putting ROMs on the cartridge? You can do that by holding START when the console is first turned on, then selecting a ROM to flash to the cart itself. After that, you access the game you've flashed by selecting the first option on the Megacart menu.
ok but how do I put savegames from my sega cd on the megacart to back them up? and how do I transfer them back to the sega cd again if I want to use them? I want to use this cart basically for saving sega cd games(which is a pain otherwise) and as a converter (which works!)
Right, as i said, the Megacart isn't a RAM cart; all it will do is copy the savegames on you're Mega CD's and keep a copy of it; which you can use to copy back to the console at at later date or just keep for backing up incase the memory is wiped.
I'll have to fire up my Megacart to tell you how to do it; I'm pretty much forgotten how myself. :D
