Sadly I personally know three people who use 56k.

Half cable here (cable download, dialup upload). It's the fastest option out here in the middle of nowhere.
I finally upgraded from DSL to cable. Went from 500 KB to 20 MB. I can now actually watch a video on-line!!

I used to use 56k while I was stuck in limbo about ADSL.
It's not as bad as you'd think, if you have a very good phone line. I'd far prefer 128k (Or higher, if possible) ISDN, however.

Service sucks out here in the boonies.
I'm in east county San Diego, so I have access to any sort of speed. 56k is just cost-effective for me; I don't need high-speed internet because I have high-speed patience. :)
Speaking of which, I just upgraded the CPU in this old bucket of crap from a 750Mhz to a 1.3Ghz... for just ten bucks. POWER X-TREME!!
Have you considered 256k ADSL?
these days, there are so many people with wireless that do not setup their passwords, that if you need high speed you can simply mooch it.
Arrrggg!!! Get yourself cable modem NOW. Experience all that is on the internet. Join us! I can't believe that you are that poor! The internet is a big part of what you do! Maybe it is because nobody else has 56K that we are impatient with lots of random battles. :)Quote:

I have literally been using Cable for half of my LIFE. I find it very hard to imagine struggling with 56k, ever again.
I have the 100 MEGA POWER internet connection powered by the Norse gods. It's a very good thing to have if you play RPGs with too many long and tedious random encounters :).
dude, dial up? Around here DSL high speed isn't a whole lot more. Just do it so you can get someone to setup a youtube channel for you (if you don't have the time).
Ok, that was fun and all, but perhaps we should keep this thread focused on the game. Thanks.
Hey, it's now 2011! It'll be out soon! Anyone have money set aside for its release date? :)
its called V-I-S-A ;)
Funny how I had no money for anything when the genny first came out. Whatever I could save from my summer jobs. Now I have a wife, 2 kids and a house in the burbs. Now, money is not the issue ($50 per year on a game is no big deal) its time... 'luckily' I've had the flu for the last week so I have time to kick back and play a game or too. Actually its 3:43AM here now and I can't sleep ... :/
