Oh well, if that's true then fuck it. I already have two copies of Pier Solar I still need to beat anyways.

Or you could beat one twice and sell the other one to get yourself a copy of Star Odyssey. ;)
Yeah I guess that makes sense. But one is a classic USA and the other is a sealed re-print, and I want to sell neither.. so wait I will.
I'm in the market for a Genny version myself. ;)
Rumour is that the postal strike will be over on Tuesday, so I went ahead and put in my order.
Even if he's not shipping to Canada yet, he will probably still hold your order. I'm sure the strike will be over long before Star Odyssey goes back into production, so you'll get your copy sooner than if you wait it out.
Good news everyone!

The Canada Post stirke is over. So all us Canaidan folk can get our copies now!
My copy has shipped. I got the shipping confirmation mail an hour ago :).
Hmm, I haven't got anything yet... I hope Brandon checks his email soon.
The things us Genesis gamers do to get stuff. Worked through the weekend just to make a little extra cash and get this game! Yay! No word on it being sold out yet so I placed my order. Can't wait to put it on the shelf.
I didn't get my conformation and I ordered it within an hour or two of Brandon's announcement e-mail. Hopefully he doesn't dilly-dally, gets off his butt and gets these things out the door. And don't stop to admire yourself in the mirror whispering that you are the savior of retro gaming to yourself on the way to the P.O.!
And none of this "I was out of town on business" horseshit. If you're busy, then you should have chosen a different time to release the game.
Well, I'm still waiting for a reply to an email asking about a "copy for the press", as I already wrote a preview for both Star Odyssey and Sturmwind (DC) for the last issue of Games Tribune magazine and I'd like to know if I could be getting the game for the review next month... :P
Hello, everyone.
I've caught up on all recent e-mail inquiries; thank you for your patience.
Shipping of Star Odyssey will continue throughout the week.
Also -- it seems very likely that sometime today, we will have sold through the first 300 copies of the game. Never fear, however, as I have already ordered another set of 300 copies. We will have them manufactured and ready to go as soon as we can.
Thank you for your continued support of this and our other game products. :)
Other sets for Beggar Prince and Legend of Wukong would be great too, Brandon!
When I bought Pier Solar from WM and felt pleased with my purchase I would like to have another games from them... But they do not have another one until now.
But SFT does! So, please, let us purchase the whole set of SFT games. I would like to support you and your company! I'm sure that you could use this Star Odyssey-hype to sell, at least, another run of the other two games within 1-2 months.
Please, don't let all the money goes to a dozen of greedy eBay sellers making easy money with SFT's great efforts.
From what I've heard, Beggar Prince was pretty glitchy/buggy. Therefore, I'd imagine that Cobb would like to fix those bugs before another potential release of the game, which will take time and get in the way of his current projects.
I think almost all issues have been fixed with the previous reprint. I don't think it'd be necessary at all to go back toying with the game to produce another print run.
AFAIK the only bug that was fixed was the incompatibility with the 32X, the rest remains the same.
The I want a buggy Beggar Prince. ;) Something. Anything!
Why? You can tell it was programmed by those not familiar with the system. But if you want the game that badly, just stop by this one site I know of called ebay.com
'Been at it for a while. I missed out on a couple; but Beggar Prince only comes once or twice every so often.
Wait a minute, am I seriously the first person on Sega-16 to get my copy? I just checked in on this thread expecting someone else to have posted pictures and so forth already.
Anyway, mine arrived this afternoon, though I haven't tried it out yet. The manual and cartridge art look great, very professional. I'm not so keen on the graphic design of the exterior box art -- there seems to be a fair amount of wasted space, and the back cover text could be significantly bigger -- but if this is an accurate reproduction of the original layout (either the released Japanese version or planned US box art), then fair enough.
still awaiting despatch email from SFT, i ordered on the release day
I have, actually. Twice they've gone for less that $125 on ebay this past month; and I missed-out on the auctions thinking it would've been useless to bid (since they usually go for $200-300; something I'm definitely not willing to pay for one game). The same happened with the Genny version of Pier Solar. Something tells me that Summer is the time when people either are at their lowest financially, or they simply don't want to shell-out as much cash. Who knows? Hopefully that's the case so I can bid on a near-future auction.
'Care to share some with us?
Me too. I ordered the morning of (like at 6:48 AM EST). I couldn't have been too far from the first order. But who knows? I could be wrong. It worries me that I haven't received said shipping confirmation e-mail. I did receive the generic (non-newsletter) e-mail Brandon sends to his previous customers, though.
I wrote a couple brief preview articles for the latest issue of Games Tribune magazine... one for Star Odyssey, one for Sturmwind (Dreamcast):

Pages 102-105.
Glad you like the manual and cart, sorry you don't like the box. They're pretty much the same though.
The art on the Japanese cover is slightly larger. It had to be scaled down a little bit due to the scan quality of the source and to make it fit the new design. Generally, it's fairly faithful to the original packaging. We could have made the back text a bit bigger, but then it wouldn't have balanced so well against the cover.
I've actually only seen it on my screen and in black and white from when I made dummy-prints. I'll be excited to see what it looks like when someone posts pictures.
Rule #1: Always print out your stuff to see how it looks like in real life before deciding on it.
The colors were fine in my screen because my monitor was calibrated using one of those nifty attachments. The bigger issue was whether the print house could adjust to match the CMYK profile I worked in, because they never told me what their printers were configured for.
Things turned out OK with Legend of Wukong and Zaku, so I figured they would work out this time too.
The dummy print was just to make sure that Brandon didn't end up with a bunch of covers that didn't actually fit inside the box. He's a stickler about quality control and said that everything was fine, so I'll go with his judgement :)
Wow congrats on getting the game so quickly. Also, if you don't dig the official box art, recall that I made this "fan" art custom insert for OCD people like me who want their game to match the other SFT releases.

That's awesome. Just as long as "Voice acted battle cries" is listed as a main selling point, I'm totally there. I would also like to see a behind-the-scenes DVD with interviews with the voice actors and some footage of the many voice acting sessions that took place.
No shipping confirmation e-mail yet. I ordered it June 22nd at 12:16 Eastern as well.
I haven't got mine yet either. I emailed Brandon and he said he'll ship out my game tomorrow afternoon and I should get my shipping confirmation then. Yours might be shipped then too.
Ask and ye shall...um...get something...

Jeez, I hope my comments didn't sound harsher than they were meant to be. The art actually looks better once it's removed from the box -- the plastic covering is uncommonly glossy. Still, I'm curious as to whether you feel that the printed version fully represents your design -- at first glance the printing quality seems a notch below my other two SFT games, but I could be wrong about that.
