Test prints were done on my end, and again by our factory before official printing began. I was most satisfied with each result.

Got mine today! Looks like I was worried over nothing when I didn't get the confirmation e-mail even though I knew I was one of the first (maybe 7th?) to order. I eventually got two shipping confirmation e-mails yesterday or the day before, though. Weird. But that matters not any more.

Haven't played it yet. Everything is very high quality, especially the cart and the manual. The box art is a bit odd without the full "Genesis" and "Mega Drive" names. If it ends up bugging me over the long term, I'll use DJ Shock's artwork (which I have downloaded). There is a bit of ink smearing on the back in the text.

Sweet deal. I just got my confirmation today. Some would be upset, but not me. I was worried it might've arrived today while it was pouring outside. This means there's a chance I'll get mine over the weekend, while I'm at home sweet home.:D

Might talk about it a bit on Game Sack this week.

Brandon, where are you getting these post office shipping boxes? I used to get those same boxes for free from the P.O. (they had to be ordered online) but they have stopped carrying them from what I can see. Now their smallest box is much too large.

Jeez, I hope my comments didn't sound harsher than they were meant to be. The art actually looks better once it's removed from the box -- the plastic covering is uncommonly glossy. Still, I'm curious as to whether you feel that the printed version fully represents your design -- at first glance the printing quality seems a notch below my other two SFT games, but I could be wrong about that.

Thanks so much for posting the picture.

The printed version is not precisely what I envisioned. I see that the spine measurement I was working with was slightly wider than the actual spine measurement of the case. If I could do it over, I'd pull the crease lines a wee bit closer to the edge and narrow the bindings.

Otherwise, it looks like I expected. I'm fairly happy with it, and I guess Brandon is too.

We sold through the first 300 copies in a record six days. We're still taking orders, but the next 300 copies must be manufactured before we can ship them -- so yes, there will be a slight waiting period before those copies are shipped to customers.

I ordered mine 24h within release, i got an order confirmation, but not yet a shipping confirmation.. Am i one of those who'll have to wait...?

silly question really, it took 6 days to sell out, your copy will be in that first 300 if you ordered within a day of its release...think about it

I'm not even sure my copy is shipped, I only got an order confirmation. I believe I ordered on the second day, would have ordered right away, but I didn't get email that the game is available until after a week or more.

Huh. Well we should be safe then, because this is a non-shrinkwrapped, new Sega game. :)

Of course, our customers are free to do whatever they like with our games -- but obviously, after all the hard work we put into them, we'd prefer that they play and enjoy them. I suppose if the people who buy our games from resellers end up playing and enjoying them, at least that's something. *shrugs*

Quite honestly, the only reason I feel secure buying this game having no idea of the quality of the game is that I will be able to resell it after I beat it and the game is sold out for much more than I payed for it. Sorry! >.<

How awesome. I just got home from the movies with my girlfriend to a very neat package at my doorstep.

Can you record some gameplay footage? And also how often do random battles happen? Is it as bad as everyone says?

Sorry so many questions! I'd love to play Star Odyssey right now but my copy hasn't been shipped yet. :(

Gaaah, I'm jealous! I got hit with unexpected expenses recently, so my money I had set aside for Star Odyssey got as good as spent :( I'll just have to wait for my next paycheck then :)

Only played for an hour or so, so I can't give an honest opinion. All I can say so far is that it is a bit primitive, but certainly not horrible. Better than Traysia, certainly. I'll have some of video on it in Monday's Game Sack.

Hey, have not posted here in years, but I figured I would give some of my impressions on Star Odyssey. I am about 4-5 hours into the game so far and what I like most is the overall sci-fi universe, story, and characters I have found so far. I am definitely getting a sense of Phantasy Star meets Star Wars here. The writing is great, music is catchy, and gameplay is no frills but traditional and fun if you like turn based RPG fare. My main complaint would be that yes, the random battles are at times RIDICULOUS in the encounter rate. Grinding is also needed so you can save up money to buy new armor, which is definitely needed unless you want to continuously get pummeled by enemies (death reduces your gold by half) so saving up gold was tough at times until I found a good quick spot to farm and quickly go back to town, rest, repeat without needed to waste money on healing items. Overall I am looking forward to where the game goes from here despite the high encounter rate (I don't mind grinding).

I am actually stuck again though (at times it is hard to tell where the game wants you to go next, talking to EVERY NPC sometimes multiple times after completing events is highly recommended). I just got Rick on my team (first party member) and when I recruited him he mentioned about going somewhere with me, but now I can't figure out where to go next...any help here is appreciated.

I actually did a live stream of this game on justin.tv for a couple hours. I will provide a link for those interested but please take note of the following: I was streaming to a live audience and chat room, so I have my live audio commentary on the videos so it may annoy those of you who have no clue what I am referencing. I also got quite mad a few times where I kept dieing while I was trying to grind levels and money (don't worry I still like the game lol), and the part that some may hate the most, since I was streaming to a large audience I eventually provided my own music (most of it RPG game music anyway) instead of using the games music/sound effects since lets face it, I did not want to subject my viewers to hours upon hours of the same 2 repeating songs. Yes, they are. They're almost as frequent as what's in Sword of Vermillion.

So I assume I must be at least level 30 to attempt Temuwood that as at the near-beginning of the game? I am currently at level 12 and I can't even make it more than 2 or 3 battles without dying. Every time I gain a level, my attacks gain a touch of power but my defense does not. The Pop-Bems (or whatever they are called) keep taking 23 points off of me each attack. I have the most powerful items equipped that I can get. I have been through one cave which ended up on an island but my level increased and suddenly the enemies were about 40 times more powerful than they were 10 seconds prior. Maybe a bug that Cobb missed?

Nope. The enemies grow in strength as you do (think Oblivion), and do so right up to damn near the end of the game. My characters were all in the mid-40s in levels, and the game just kept throwing tougher enemies at me. The physical attacks get lessened, but the magical attacks hurt you just as much every time regardless of level. So grind baby, GRIND!

Just watch out for when the enemies start coming up behind you. Your physical attacks only do about 1/3 their usual damage to those enemies, making you rely on other means to beat them quickly (a certain Star Wars quote comes to mind ;)).

And yes, I've beaten the game, so I'm not pulling this out of my ass.

Wait, if the enemies grown in strength when you do, then wouldn't grinding not really be of any help?

you still need to grind for money/equipment

There is no reason to have money as I have all of the best equipment. Force doesn't work, I am not allowed to use it. This game is a bit broken. I CANNOT defend against magic attacks and that is ALL the enemies do.

So again I ask: Do I need to be at level 30 to get past Temuwood?
