He can't get broadband where he is. His house is on a steep incline, and the broads can't make it up the band. They get all clogged up about half way up the band and crash the ISP's servers.

Man, I wish that somehow broadband signals weren't affected by our #1 nemesis... gravity! The signal starts to go up the hill, slows to a stop and rolls back down!
It is a shame to be sure. But when you consider all the deep and thought provoking discussions that our World Wide Web has had shared on it, is it any wonder that it's too heavy for broadband to handle?
I just received an email (well, actually two) from Brandon so my order is ok, like I suspected. I'm personally very happy that they produced this game for us to enjoy and look forward to actually playing it.
To people who have played this -- honestly, how well does it stack up against the Phantasy Star series (which seems like the most obvious point of comparison on the Genesis)?
look, i love the fact that a company is producing 'new' games for the console ( ideally proper new games would be better) , however i've come to the conclusion that i've been totally spoiled by pier solar. the quality of that wont ever be surpassed, its an absolute triumph and the overall quality of this SO game i've received is around 20% as good. And thats being a little too easy on it
honestly though, maybe i just got a bad copy of it but the box is deformed, cracked and the plastic sheeting isnt even stuck on properly.
my expectations were just too high
Anyone still waiting who ordered the game in June? I've got a confirmation email but nothing about shipping.
I ordered mine July 16th, so I guess I have a long wait yet.
I ordered mine in June or July and I am still waiting too. I don't mind waiting at all, as long as a have the game one day (soon hopefully) :) I feel better knowing that I am not alone.
I ordered in late June and I've basically resigned myself to the idea that I won't be getting it soon. Whenever it gets to me, I guess it'll be a nice little surprise.
It's sad I ordered this some time ago last month and I still haven't got it yet! I wonder if I will have to wait longer to get this one than pier solar?
Actually, this thread is for positive and negative comments, not just a bunch of ass kissing. If someone doesn't like the game, they're perfectly free to come in and say why (hopefully without being inflammatory).
And SO is a 1991 game, released in 2011. They didn't update the graphics or anything, which means it still looks like it did way back when.
who the fuck are you to tell me what to put here ? its not a arselicking thread. i can say what the fuck i want to about this game as i paid good money for it. ok, DUDE!!
the age of the software has fuck all to do with my grievances about what i received so get your facts right
i've been up all night inhaling butane gas, this could explain my demeanour this morning
Thanks JC

my copy of Star Odyssey came in today!
...in other words, form your own opinion. Ignore the people that say the game is the best thing since strangers handing out candy from a windowless white van as well.
finally got round to starting to play this last night....after 5 hours i sat a little bemused, started pondering where my life has gone wrong, how and why did i end up playing this absolute piece of garbage when i have 1000s of other games i want ( and have in my collection) to play. The graphics are below standard for its age, the gameplays just not fun but its the random encounter rate that delivers the killer blow. Its worse than i had expected from a SFT release, and thats saying something.
Overall, if you have nothing else to play and want monotonous repetitive gameplay, choose this game.
in the end i thought ' fuck it' and put landstalker on, now that's a proper game
^^considering your avatar I take that statement with a grain of salt
He's obviously a Pier Solar fanboy, he just comes in here to bash Blue Almanac
Blue Almanac is alright, but seriously, it looks and sounds ancient. It plays like that too. Only for hardcore oldskool RPG fans I guess.
Not a bad game but definitely less accessible than a Pier Solar, for example.
So, uh, a fan of one game in one genre for one console, is a fanboy who bashes another game in the same genre on the same console, if he doesn't like it? Makes perfect sense. Personally, I'm a big Phantasy Star IV fanboy and I always have raging fights with all the John Madden Football fanboys around here.
Isn't that the truth. No leveling up, you can't get better padding to make the enemy tackles do less damage, you can't get a better football to get more yardage out of each attack pass, your party just blocks enemy assaults, and you always seem to fight on the same damn patch of ground. And holy shit do the attack/defend turns take forever!
It's boring as hell.
so Madden is better than Star Odyssey?
*orders madden 93 off ebay*
Sometimes there's a reason why nobody bothered to translate and bring a release to other territories...Star Odyssey is a shining example of why some things just need to die quietly in their own region.
Just my opinion.
