No joke, they listed SMB Galaxy as a Action/Adventure(evidently these guys never heard of the genre 3D platformer).
Also they listed God of War as an Action/Adventure as well, which Isn't that just an action game?

I would say that God of War is an action/adventure game. Who cares anyway man lol. What i find more of an insult is the terrible humor. Every single joke so far has been a huge fail
Yea, the jokes have been an epic failure(for instance, she said jokes only work when there's 2 people, saying that's what she said to your own statement, doesn't work).
God of War is action adventure...
And there are a lot of games that fit multiple profiles... most 3D platformers will fit the action-adventure genre to a fair degree, and many action/adventure games also push into the platformer category. (there's a fair amount of platforming the 3D Zelda and Tomb Raider games, and Banjo Kazooie is full of action-adventure elements)
One genre that seems to be very poorly catagorized is "rail shooter" or "on rails shooter" as you get the star fox/panzer dragoon/space harrier type shooters getting that name alongside the totally unrelated on-rails light gun games like Area 51 or House of the Dead.
Then you have a lot of those flying based railshooters getting categorized as "sims" ... wikipedia doesn't even have a list of rail shooter games and I can't seem to find any site that properly categorizes such games. Sometimes they're mixed in under "shooter" (along with 2D shmups, 3rdPSs and FPSs), but sometimes they're missing entirely for by-genre lists.
I had that problem when trying to find a PS1 railshooter a while back... which I still haven't found the name of and forget how I found it on youtube.
Olivia Munn is so full of fail. She's isn't funny at all, yet they keep putting her on TV, even hiring her to work on the daily show. I'd bang her though lol
Hopefully Angry Joe will bring some good into the VGA's now that they let him do interviews for them. Though, as long as they don't start listing Halo 3 as a puzzle game, the genre thing shouldn't be much of a problem, especially in comparison to all the other problems with the show.
Omg, the people running the VGA don't know what games are
FIXED
I break that into these categories:
Shmups = 2D Scrolling shooters like Radiant Silvergun, Thunder Force, etc.
First Person Shooters = First Person Shooters (DOOM, Halo, etc.)
Light Gun Games = House of the Dead, Virtua Cop, Time Crisis, Umbrella Chronicles, etc.
Rail Shooters = Games like Star Fox, Panzer Dragoon, Rez, etc. (I guess Spacer Harrier and After Burner could fit in here)
Run and Gun = Gunstar Heroes, third person shooters, etc.
That's how I look at that genre.
That seems like it could be the case as well(after all, lets be real, they show more CG/movies, then they do games, It's VGA for crying out loud, non gameplay based trailers shouldn't be allowed).
To NavesRegge: They listed Mario as an Action/Adventure game for crying out loud, I wouldn't put it past them to label Halo as a Puzzle game lol.
To KALuther: Yea she may be hot, but the last thing she is, is funny(there Isn't a single funny bone in her body).
Whoever the writers were for this show deserve to be fired, and forever purged from the television industry. A shitty awards show like this is really a stain on gaming media..
Trying to put things into strictly defined boxes is stupid anyway.
Keep in mind this is the same "award show" that had a Halo 3 Game Fuel sponsored award called "Most Addictive Game Fueled by Dew" and then Halo 3 won it back in 2007. It's a big over-commercialized mess.
It's just another sign that the game industry is a young and sometimes stupid industry. What's really needed is an award show voted on by members of the industry for various awards that have, you know, something to do with actually making games, like the Oscars.
