If we're talking eBay prices, that sounds about right ($30-40 range). For reference, I paid $80 for a complete, mint copy (the most I've paid for a game, actually). That also seems to be the going rate on evilBay:)
I bought it today in person...drove about 40 miles away to check out this gaming store, not expecting much because the last time I went there prices where nuts. You wanna pay $10 for a cart only Batman Returns on Sega Genesis? But I saw this diamond in the rough... :D
That's about right for cart only, the prices are down dramatically the last year.
I've bought 2 cart only copies for $7.95 apiece. Kept one, sent one to a friend in the UK.
That's too much as I said in the haul thread. For that price I would except CIB. If people are going to spend $80 on a CIB MUSHA I would get the Japanese Megadrive version which has color manual (wonderful artwork in it) and better cover artwork for the price. :/
I honestly haven't been paying attention to game prices but before I sorta took a break from collecting and am coming back...saw prices where high or getting higher. Oh well, its mine now :D
I'd pay up to $100 for a mint CIB copy. But never more than $20 for a loose cart.
Cart only cost me about €25-€30 6-7years ago. Thought I was getting a CIB version. Never trust an ebay stock photo!
you know it is, uri
and MUSHA is a cooler name as well
Pfffffffffffffffffffffff.
Just because a shmup might compel you to play repeatedly until you've died 700 times and your thumbs are bleeding in order to make it to the second boss doesn't necessarily mean you've gained more value for money than a shmup you can breeze through on the first sitting - it just means you're that much further on the way towards gaining arthritis. ;P Panorama Cotton is "easy", and I don't regret the price I paid for it at all. :)
Tbh I always thought it sounded like the type of name you might give a dog :D
nice idea Smii
gonna spread it when I see someone with a newborn puppy
And this is my daughter, Aleste...
I sold one on eBay, mint and complete for $115 last year. I won't say how much I got it for.
MUSHA is very overrated......Spriggan is a much better game.
But both still easy Compile games. At least Spriggan is worth the money for what you get. If I want it I honestly wouldn't pay more than $30 for it.
That's way too much. $96 dollars can get you some CIB Japanese imports.
Then again I can think like a cheapass. CIB is easier to sell than loose cartridges. I remember when I had MUSHA, I paid $10 CIB and $60 for Japanese CIB.
The rule of thumb is if you want it ASAP you are going to get ripped.
Back on subject though, it doesn't matter what price a game for an old system is. If it's more expensive than when it first came out it's a rip off really. But, if it's a collector's piece, it'll only enhance the collection. However you see it, if you'd paid £100+ for a game, you'll be really pissed off if it's pants.
I got NTSC1 MUSHA for about £120 including postage from the US, and I have to say, I really like it. I'd rather have only paid the £30ish it would have cost brand new, but there you go.
I'm no X-pert (!) with this kind of thing, but these games will only get rarer, and keeping them in the collection can only be a good thing for future resail in my oppinion. At the end of the day though, I really have been had by paying such a high price for such a frivolous thing as a video game.
Hehe.
There was a scoundrel of that name cast out from these 'ere parts.

The world is full of expensive frivolous crap for you to waste £££ on - I think Mega Drive / Genesis games offer relatively good value for money. And of course you could argue that money spent on anything you really enjoyed is not "wasted" :)
X-Perts is a different matter altogether though, I very much doubt anyone ever enjoyed that. :P
How's the price on a Cart Only in 2011/2012??
When I was looking last year, it was in the $60-$70 range, but I'm holding out for a CIB copy eventually. It's not really on my priority list, but I do worry the price is only going to continue going up.
BTW-What's with all the MUSHA threads in the last couple of days, is there a new rush for it?
I payed $100 for my mint only played twice cib , I wouldn't sell it for anything less then $200
I got a cart only copy in decent shape for $65 on eBay about 6 months ago. CIBs almost always go for $100+
If you check ebay now there only seems to be one US version for $80 with marked up label.
I paid $3.99 for a CIB copy of MUSHA at Goodwill a few months back. Not everyone is gonna be that lucky, of course, but it pays to frequent thrift stores even if you leave empty handed 95% of the time.
What was the Value before Classic Game Room HD made a Mega Review on it?
I remember seeing a cib copy for $80 before his review.
I've looked up craigslist and other want adds, but there's rarely any vintage game consoles there. The only time there's something there, it's always in St. John's, which is a 12-14 hour drive from my house, so I'm forced to use eBay and have all my games shipped.
Newfoundland is a dump.:(
^ Also try Goodwill stores or Salvation Army.
sometimes even pawn shops have retro games.

The right pawn shops can be a gaming gold mine. I found this one that had bunches of NES loose carts for $1 a piece. I grabbed them up.
