No, this is what they get for putting Dragon Quest IX on a fucking portable. Karma, meet ass!
Read the original 1up article. You don't think a 91% drop in forecast earnings is staggering? to go from an estimated $141 million to $11 million seems pretty staggering to me.
Oh ok.
Well that's Square for you, they waited forever to release FF 5 outside of Japan, even though they were near their peek at that time. Also don't even get me started about the JP FF 2, and 3. Then there's games that they made in the past outside of the FF series, that they still haven't bought over, yet they keep remaking the same 2 games.
As for their FF7 remake excuse, that's complete BS, everyone knows it, and I doubt they believe the **** their spouting either. FF7 is still considered cutting edge today(graphic wise anyway), so even from a graphics stand point, they're just coming up with BS excuses, because they would be actually expected to put effort into gameplay.
Perhaps "clean" up the graphics slightly, add a item/things to do collection list, and not needed, but perhaps a bonus dungeon/side quests, then call it a day.
FF7 is one of the better games ever made, there's not much you can really do to it to make it noticeably better(the only thing that sucked was the "main story", the side stories were pretty good, that's it, so there Isn't much to improve on to begin with).
Hell if they released an exact port/remake, I'm pretty sure everyone would love it, so yea Square is full of it as usual.
Oddly enough, Dragon Quest IX was SE's second biggest seller during the previous fiscal year, coming in just behind FFXIII. It was also quite an excellent game... better than FFXIII in many ways (and I actually really enjoyed FFXIII, despite all the whining "fans" who just seem to want SE to release FFVII every year with better graphics and a new roman numeral).
I didn't like DQ VII as much as VIII. It took too long to get going and didn't hook me like VIII did. I haven't played VI though.
Lol that's funny you say that, as that's exactly what all the people who don't like it(that aren't graphic whores mind you) say.
However in comparison to DQ 8, I'm sorry there's just no way I can understand that one dislike(that is completely based on opinion from people who think RPGs should be fast or have a high climax early on) can excuse not liking it more then DQ8. The lack of any real gameplay in DQ8 was sad, on top of that, it has the worse dialog ever(due to the fact Square has become super lazy when it comes to proof reading/beta testing in general, so now they purposely use broken English.
You were constantly chasing someone in DQ8, so ofcourse you are being pulled in(forced in I should say, I don't even know why there was a world map to begin with, it should've just been set up the way Tactic/RPGs are).
There's more to an RPG, then just how fast the story flows, It's ashame a lot of people didn't like DQ7 because the story wasn't super fast(however it was nice, and long with plot twists, not to mention it was an amazingly great story overall, but people don't seem to realize that).
DL the translated rom of 6(if you're waiting for the US remake/release coming up, don't bother. They already confirmed that they were "removing" content. Why the **** would you ever remove side quest content in a remake being put on a medium that holds a lot more info then the original). The overall story/world layout design is very simular to 7, but It's probally alittle faster then 7(especially at the begining, since the intro to DQ7 was pretty long).
DQ 6 was awesome, and I strongly suggest you give it a try.
Not in the context of the post I was replying to, and not in any context to be honest. Their initial forecasts were overly optimistic and they have little in the way of heavy hitting titles for the remainder of the financial year to bring in cash. Squenix haven't made a loss at all so any talk of them filing for bankruptcy is utter nonsense.
Yea, while DQ8 was a slight step down, it was still a very good-great game(between the GF system, the Card Game, and the side quests, it was awesome). Infact if more effort went into the actual story/existing gameplay elements which were already good, instead of the CG elements, it could've easily been just as good as 7 atleast, overall gameplay wise anyway.
