... and that's comparing shots from two games in the same series. FFVII looked good for its time, but it has aged horribly. That's why they need to do a remake.

FFVII graphics still have a certain charm for me. Still, that ps3 tech demo they did of the opening scene was jaw dropping. I dont understand how companies just absolutely know something will print money, and fail to bring it out. Isnt the point of being in business to make money?
FF7 came out in 1997 and even then it didn't look good graphically.Star Fox 64 came out the same year, and looks way better.On a positive note Dragon Quest 6 is coming stateside on the DS.

Dreamcast and PC made 3D look decent. Anything before that was a transition phase, and looked like dog shit.
They won't go bankrupt. I do hope they sell Eidos to make back some cash - Square Enix versions of the Hitman, Tomb Raider and Legacy of Kain franchises does worry me somewhat!

So what the hell are you referring too, exactly? All of the games I have listed are good in their own ways.
Of course every company is concerned about the bottom dollar - it would be ludicrous to believe otherwise. The problem I have with Hashimoto's statement is that you have essentially one of the top names at SE proudly claiming that, in order to produce a true sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed video games of all time, their customer base should buy into whatever software - be it good or bad - that SE puts out between then and now. Let's face it, SE's track record in the last 10 years or so has been on the decline when it comes to creativity, and that in turn affects sales - FF XIV is concrete proof of this. It saddens me to know how much potential this company has, with such an extensive catalog of titles to pull ideas from, yet the folks at SE seem content on resting on their laurels, producing a paint-by-numbers Final Fantasy game every few years or so; the remaining franchises be damned.Quote:

Out of all the remakes I've played, I was only happy with the PS1 remakes(and the never before released stateside games, were awesomely done on the PS1 as well).
However generally with the exception of DQ 5, the non PS1 remakes go from craptastic, to the worst remakes ever made.
