And yes, I believe Sonic 3D Blast and Metal Head were the only cart based Sega games to use the scream. (maybe some Saturn or PC games too)

Also, the correct pronunciation is "Seh-ga". Because that's how it's pronounced in Japan.

I can't believe this thread is 4 pages long. Like Bramsworth said, anyone who has played a Sonic game on the Genny should know how to pronounce it. Sounds like Mega.

I do not understand the original poll. Both "Sega" and "Say-ga" are the exact same pronunciation. Therefore the poll is invalid. Just click a random button to vote. It's like asking "How many are in a dozen" and only giving "12" and "twelve" as answers. It just doesn't make any sense!

ANYWAY, here is how the question should have been asked:

How do you pronounce Sega?
-1 - SAY-GUH
-2 - SEE-GUH
-3 - SAY-GAW
-4 - SEE-GAW

Of course, #1 is the only correct answer. Anyone who pronounces it differently is an asshole.

I'd also argue that there really isn't much difference between Seh-ga and Say-ga. It's very minute and I think either is acceptable. Just as long as you don't say See-ga.

Yeah, but "Say-ga" is how a lot of Japanese Sega adds, the games, etc pronounced it... the American "scream" was closer to "segg-uh" as such.

i'm used to call it in a wrong way on purpose, because the acronym "Sega" in italian means "saw" and in some situations this word can be used to allude to masturbation. For example, if you say literally "i'm going to do a sega" in italian you could sound like "i'm going to masturbate" so, many people says like "ciga", wich in italian is wrote as "siga"
(i'm judging by google translator, type "siga" and set it to italian to hear how it sounds in our language, or type "ciga" and set it to english, sounds pretty much the same thing :p )

I have a friend that says it "see-guh" just to irritate me (and i mean every fucking time I say sega he says "you mean see-guh?"). He also refers to anime as "ann-eyem" And argues that you say novice as "noe-viss".

This same guy gives me shit cause when I say the word wolves it comes out like "wuvs".

You know when I type out what my friends do online I really wonder why I even leave the house...

I'm trying to remember what sort of accent normally ties into mega begin "may-gah" ... maybe somewhere in the northern central US states (Wisconson or such), or maybe parts of Canada, but I distinctly remember that pronunciation. (and I'm talking a native English speaking accent, not one tied to a foreign language)

Pronouncing "Sega" or "Mega" as say-ga or may-ga is a product of regional accents. Those of you who don't see the difference probably say say-ga because of where you are from, so you don't see the difference. To me, there is a pretty big difference.

No, you're right about accents playing a part, but this isn't really the main factor.

My regional accent pronounces it "Seg-a", I say "Say-ga" because its the pronunciation of the brand name in games and adverts

The "ay" sound doesn't effect the rest because they're English language words, so around here its Say-ga Meg-a Dry-v
