Model 1 or 2 what would you do?

Hey Guys
I picked up a mint gen 2 and sega cd 2.. both mint in box.

I already have gen 1 and model 1 sega cd....

I am debating if I should sell the gen 2 stuff or keep it... what would you do?

the model 1 scd has been working great since I cleaned it and installed new fuse. The new one (model 2) works mint.. I am torn

Yep keep em both. The day will come when the model 1 Sega CD breaks and then you can resort to using the model 2 Sega CD.

I'm in the same predicament, sorta. I have a working Model 1 which I don't love, but I've yet to get my Model 1 working. Even when I do, I imagine it may give me issues down the road.

My problem is that i just picked up an X'eye recently. Now what? ;-) Of course, it doesn't read discs either :-/

Keep them all, you never know what might break.

Heck yeah, keep them all until they are FORCED from you. A few more systems don't take up that much more room :)

My model 1 has been going for years, guess I should get ready for it to go? I still have one Model 2 in reserve, but it needs the fuse repaired... plugged it in with a SMS base adapter... think that was it anyway. Duh. :daze:

whats this MCD1 fuse all about then?

I'd keep them both but that's the collector in me.

So, what's different between Model 1 and Model 2 aside from the appearance and how they hook up and the seemingly annoying to use disk tray?

model 1 is the most rare of the 2 models, very sought and expensive, plus model 1s can read burned images, whilst model 2 can´t

If by burned images you mean CD-R's then models 2, CDX's, & X Eye's all do an equally as good job.

The only benefit I can think of that the model 2 CD has over the first one is that the model 2 looks good with both Genesis systems. (As long as you have the extension plate for the model 1 Genesis.) The model 1 Sega CD just looks incomplete with a model 2 Genesis on top.

Of course this isn't about which system is better. Hold onto both systems if you have that option.

Only advantage is collectiblility, styling, and the BIOS demo.

Technically the laser is better on model 1, as it has a sort of amplifier which allows burning the images on bad discs and still it reads them, whilst model 2 laser lacks this amplifier and thus, it becomes kinda a hell for it, especially if laser is old.
Also model 1 bios kicks ass. Proud of having it.
