I suppose I hang out when too many Nintendo fanboys to put my comments into context. Maybe it's not the system itself that I find overrated but the games which people are always gushing over that I don't particularly like with only a few exceptions.
In response to Why-Disciple, pretty much what everyone else has said. I only agree with not being able to choose your controller.
The water physics in the N64 game are much better than the GC game. It really changes the overall feel of controlling your watercraft.Quote:

Anyway, anyone know if there's a way to play DS games without buying a DS? Like using a Wii attachment or something?
I play my DS in public. Usually at a doctor's office or somewhere I know the wait is going to be extremely long. There's very few places beyond that where I'm idle long enough to want to pass time with a video game though. I still like its portability for other reasons like quick play sessions around the house without needing to settle down in front of a TV, usually for times when I'm in-between doing something else. Also, who here hasn't gamed on the toilet before :P. I don't find myself having the time to play console games much any more. Older games and handheld games fit my personal needs pretty well.
I still don't buy the argument that handheld games are weaker than their console counterparts because most of the best games are ones that are made specifically for their respective handhelds don't have console counterparts. Sure toned down handheld ports of console games usually suck (though not really true of the DS Sonic Colors) but that's why you should avoid those. A handheld should compliment your console, not replace it.
To answer your question, yes there is but it's going the route of piracy. The latest version of NO$GBA is probably the best DS emulator to my knowledge but it's far from perfect or compatible with everything.
One gotta remember that N64 came out when most Saturn and PS1 3D games looked and played horrible. The decent ones were mostly 1-on-1 fighters and racing games. On N64 practically everything 3D looked and played decent.
Plus it was the first machine with analog controls, rumble support, and multi player support.
The Nintendo 64 was certainly an excellent system. The looks, the games and so on.
Sort of, my favourite game type from that era were light gun games and rally games, i don't think the N64 had a single light gun game and i never saw a Rally game worth owning. And the controller feels uncomfortable, especially for the touted first person shooters of the day.
Oh one more thing, i think the PSP is better to me because it reminds me of the Game Gear it is more powerful, has less games but higher quality, console like games, more expensive, more bulky, and less battery life. Unless you have a PSP go but who does? i think the only time i have seen a person playing with one just bought it and was standing outside the shop.
To everyone on the N64, I was definitely not saying it was a bad system myself. I was only pointing out that common internet opinion says that the N64 was garbage. Mostly from elitist forums that think Nintendo is the devil, but those forums make up a stupidly large number.
Also, to the people who said DK64 was crap, I would love to hear how you came to that conclusion. No really, write up a few paragraphs, I'm very interested.

That's where your problem lies. DK64 was exactly like all the other 3D platformers of the time - Super Mario 64 clones. If you played Banjo Kazooie ahead of time, you might have been more accepting of DK64.Quote:
