Those cocksuckers could easily patch that stretch feature in there. I'd love to get enough people together to go at these assholes with some venom in order to get them to patch it. Class action lawsuit would be interesting.

I don't want my $20 back for the Reloaded Classics disc beacause some of the games do use the entire screen. I simply want a patch that gives me the stretch feature on all the games.

Why are we continuing to allow these companies to WALK ALL OVER US and treat us like shit :confused:

So because you think it's whack, I should have to endure something that I think is bloody whack. Having the option to stretch would suffice for everyones needs, not just the few who think playing a game with half the screen is the thing to do because it's "respecting the orignal aspect ratio".


Some of you think I'm a tool because I expect Locked V-Sync and MSAA in todays Console games, but the thought of playing a game in fullscreen at the expense of the games original aspect ratio is against y'alls prerogative... I just don't understand some of y'all. I guess the feeling's mutual, lol.

If I want fullscreen 1942/3, where do I have to go... the NES. The pathetic PS2 port and this PSP port (which I imagine is simply the exact same PS2 port made to work with the PSP, how little effort did they put into that, lol.. christ) both only use half the screen.



I can abide with jaggies... but asking me to play something half screen when there's ZERO logic behind not taking care of that does nothing but infuriate me and I don't understand how others don't feel slighted by this.

Most gamers who would buy a Capcom classic compilation are hardcore fans. And hardcore fans tend to prefer original aspect ratio when it comes to their old games.

But hey, I get it, why not throw in an option to make the games look worse? A good example is the Mega Man 9/10 on modern TVs. Same company, and they give you the option to stretch the image or keep it looking like an NES original. Of course, pixelated NES games aren't nearly as bad as pixelated arcade games.

Seems to me like you can't make your mind up old_school. On one hand you cry and moan about jaggies and other graphical inadequacies, and now your asking for them? Can't have it both ways chief.

Oldschool, Exactly which Capcom Classics Col' do You have? The reason I ask is, I happen to have this one:

And it most certainly does have the ability to stretch/modify the game image. In game, if You press the Select button, it will cycle through a variety of screen types and orientations. For Vertically-oriented games like 1942 and mercs, the PSP will not only stretch the image to the entire screen, but rotate it 90 degrees, to maintain image aspect ratio. for Horizontally-oriented games, like Ghosts n' goblins, it will simply stretch the image.

Personally, I prefer to stick with the original pixel size, but hay, whatever floats Yer' boat.

I bet you stretch 4:3 TV shows so that people look all fat, too, right? I really, really hate such people. They get no pity from me. Such people don't know the difference between a circle and an oval. So the entire screen isn't used 100% of the time, who gives a shit?

That's the same one I have and no, you cannot stretch Mercs to fit the screen horizontally... but yeah, you can make it fit vertically... what good is that, the controls are sideways at that point. I actually tried playing 1942/3 like that, but it cramped my hands even faster than playing it normally (horizontally).

only does it vertically... won't fill up the screen horizontally = makes zero sense to not have that option

Typical ignorant, uneducated consumer mentality. So the Capcom game doesn't fill the screen. That doesn't mean most other games don't. So you paying $200 (which isn't much if you have a job) is irrelevant. How long did it take you to earn that $200? I am guessing 2 years from the allowance given to you by mom & pop if such an issue bothers you so much based on how much you spent on it. And it's not half the screen. 4:3 is nearly 2/3 of a 16:9 screen.

Do you bitch when you go to a movie theater and see a movie in the 2.40 aspect ratio and the masking covers parts of the top or bottom (or both) of the screen to make the movie fit? It's not taking up the ENTIRE SCREEN, yet your ticket price is still the same. If you went to a theater with common height masking and watch a 1.85 movie, then the sides aren't being used. Do you bitch? Would you bitch if they stretched/distorted the image to fill the entire screen? You are REALLY going to hate Blu-ray movies, because next to none of them are formatted for 16:9. Many are 1.85 with a slight letterboxing. Even more are 2.40 with more noticeable letterboxing. And there's nothing you can do about it, though I'm sure you'd be content to stretch and distort the image vertically just so it fills the entire screen. It doesn't matter if the image looks as intended, just as long as 100% of the screen real estate is used.

This is where I'm getting lost in y'alls logic... ok: yes, I hate it when Console games don't have locked V-Sync and AA. I can live without AA, there's even a few that have Variable V-Sync that I can put up with.

Those are both 'forced' situations would you not agree? As in, I have no choice to enable either of those PP FX because the Devs didn't give me the option. Some don't care about the option, but it wouldn't hurt those who don't care about the option 'if' in fact the option was there because they would simply ignore it... right? Are we on the same page so far there... cool...

There are 'lots' of real reasons behind those two PP FX not being enforced routinely: money/time/etc being very valid reasons (I disagree that funds are appropriately being used and these things could be accomplished but that's for another argument). The point is that there are some serious hurdles that would have to be overcome in order for those two PP FX to be enabled routinely.


Now, the aspect ratio issue is nothing of the sort. On one hand, there are those who would not choose to use it. Again, if the option was there, it would not bother those who would choose not to use it because they simply wouldn't enable it.

But on the other hand, those who would choose to enable it could do so at 'very little cost' to the Developer... do you not agree? If you know so much about software development, why aren't you out there creating your own games with whatever options you want? Twenty minutes of coding/programming/whatever? Yeah, maybe if they can find someone with intimate knowledge of the original source code. In hindsight, I would of done that in the first place (Funimation's great ain't they? -j/k); but money's tight for me and I'd rather just buy Kai when they get's released on Blu Ray.

Maybe in the future I'll buy those Dragonboxes - they do look quite nice..
