Why no US Karaoke, or SEGA CD 2 Karaoke?

How much did that beast cost?

No answer to the cost question? I'm kind of curious...

Wow, this is pretty cool, I'd never even heard of this before. I'd imagine that for awhile they were probably dirt cheap in Japan because no one wanted the accessory.

And I have to note that Karaoke does not mean "tone-deaf". It's shortened (like a bunch of common Japanese words) for Kara Orchestra, or "Empty Orchestra" since there is no one playing the music, just a machine. In a similar vein Karate means "empty hand" (te means hand).
